Washington – President Barack Obama issued a statement on Thursday joining the global community on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz death camp to commemorate the 6 million Jews annihilated by the Nazis over 60 years ago.

“I join people here at home, in Israel, and around the world in commemorating International Holocaust Remembrance Day, as we mark one of the darkest, most destructive periods in human history,’ Obama said.
“To remember is a choice, and today we remember the innocent victims of the Nazis’ murderous hate – six million Jews and millions of other people. We are reminded to remain ever-vigilant against the possibility of genocide, and to ensure that ‘Never Again’ is not just a phrase but a principled cause. And we resolve to stand up against prejudice, stereotyping, and violence – including the scourge of anti-Semitism – around the globe,” he added.
“At the same time, we remember the ordinary people who courageously and heroically expressed the very best of the human capacity for compassion and justice by risking their lives to save their fellow human beings during the Holocaust. They demonstrated that in the midst of evil, human beings can perform remarkable acts of decency and dignity,” Obama said.
“Finally, on Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the survivors and the profound faith and courage they have embodied to build lives of purpose and meaning. In doing so, they are defying those who tried to kill them, and teaching us that love and life can vanquish hate and death. Let us honor them, and those we lost, by building a more peaceful, just and tolerant world,” he added.
Ahem but it’s not up to him.
If Obama wants to prove his commitment to the Jewish community, there are two things that he can do for us, prior to election day of 2012; the first is to commute the outrageous and excessive sentence of Shalom Rubashkin to time served, and send him home; the second is to do the same for Jonathon Pollard, who has already served twenty five years and two months in confinement. Enough is enough!!
We should teach our children to love, be concerned, and care for, the well being of every Human Being (Tzelem Elokim), regardless what kind of mother they were born to..
Then, HKB”H will, Never-Again, bring on any bigotry or hate towards us. That is because of the principle of, Middoh Kneged Middoh.
Nice words…
he says ” ‘Never Again’ is not just a phrase but a principled cause”….he is soo right. to hims, it is a campaign slogan for reelection.
