Jerusalem – Moishe (“Moishi”) Holtzberg, the four-year-old boy who lost his parents in the 2008 terror attack on the Chabad House in Mumbai, is expected to light a torch together with his grandfather Shimon Rosenberg at the opening ceremony of Israel’s 63rd Independence Day festivities.

Yedioth Ahronoth has learned that the two were selected several days by a public committee appointed to choose the torch lighters. The committee recently approached Rosenberg, who adopted his grandson after Moishi’s parents – Rabbi Gavriel and Rivka Holtzberg – were killed in the Mumbai attack – and informed him of its decision.
An official announcement is expected to be made in the coming days, after the selection will be approved by the Ministerial Committee for Symbols and Ceremonies headed by Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov.
i don’t think Israel realizes what message their sending.
by linking the chabad house attack to israel it asserts the claim of many, that israel causes a danger to jews all over the world.
What on earth does it mean they are honoring a 4 year old. Leave the kid grow up normal. Don’t parade him around. He doesn’t understand any of this anyway.
Why are we putting unneeded pressure and media spotlight on the 4 year old child??
As a famous Yiddish expression says:
Everyone thinks they know best how to:
1. Tell someone else how to spend their money
Yennem’s Gelt Tzi Tzeilen
2. Tell someone else how to make their life decisions
Yennem Ein Tzi Teilen
3. Tell someone how tho raise their children
Yennem’s Kinder Vi Tzi Ertziyen
Whether you are a “psychologist” posting here or a busybody neighbor in their town, why does your opinion matter. No one needs your unsolicited advice, especially if you do not have all of the particulars. Even then, mind your own business, since the family has not asked you for your expertese… I imagine that there’s plenty of parenting advice or other lifestyle choices critiquing you can use yourself…
