Thousands of Israelis marched through the city Wednesday waving flags and dancing for Jerusalem Day celebrations Wednesday.

The procession went through the largely Arab neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, past a contentious Jewish enclave there. Left-wing protesters scuffled with marchers and two people were arrested.

Police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld said one Israeli and one Arab were later hurt when the sides threw rocks at each other near Jerusalem’s Old City. Rosenfeld said four Arabs and a tourist were arrested for assaulting the Israeli marchers.

Two other Arabs, a man and a woman, were arrested for yelling anti-Semitic slurs, including praise for Adolph Hitler and for spitting at the marchers.

Five Israelis also were arrested for attacking Arabs, Rosenfeld said.

Palestinians claim east Jerusalem as the capital of their future state.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Jerusalem will never be divided. His long-standing policy puts him at odds with the Palestinians and much of the world.

The future of Jerusalem is one of the toughest and most emotional issues that Israel and Palestinians need to work out for a peace agreement.

How about showing something positive about all the celebrations in honor of Yom Yerushalayim. If it wasn’t for the IDF soldiers fighting in 1967, the hareidim wouldn’t have a “koissel” to daven at.

Let me begin at the end.yerushalayim is ours forever.we waited 2000 years to liberate her and not one grain of holy sand will be given to the so-called palestinians or anyone else for that matter.
the end-result of the Bibi-Obama confrontation is a realization that Israel will never go back to 67 ‘borders, nor will so-called palestinian refugees return to terrorize us,nor will there be any land-for-peace in Yehuda and Shomron and the Golan.
We have no peace-partner- and we don’t need one ! Look at the turmoil in the world of Yishmael-all agreements are off -each regime will be in turmoil for years not to replace tyranny with democracy but to restore new tyranny by new tyrants.such is the way of Yishmael ! With trust in Hashem and military preparedness we can defeat our enemies and flourish.Shomer yisrael shemor shearit yisrael ve al yovad goy kadosh
haomrim shema yisrael (be eretz yisrael ) !!
