Washington – A top White House economic adviser says the upward tilt over the past six months in new jobs is a better indicator of the nation’s employment picture than a gloomy report Friday that warned of slow growth ahead.

Austan Goolsbee, who heads the president’s Council of Economic Advisers, says the addition of a million new jobs over the past six months shows “we have improved a long way from when the economy was in rescue mode.”
Employers added 54,000 jobs in May, the fewest in eight months, and Friday’s report showed that the unemployment rate had inched up to 9.1 percent.

Goolsbee tells ABC’s “This Week” that the jobs report indicates the economy was “somewhat slowed,” but he insists the numbers are “highly variable.”
If the administration cannot take responsibility and accept the truth then this shows he is an unqualified leader. All his promises about change came true. Things changed for the worse. He should do the USA a favor and not run again. He cannot do the job both domestically or internationally. He is a failed leader and he should accept it. He has nothing positive to offer this country so he should step down.
we need to develop 250,000 new jobs per month just to stay even with those entering the job market we are not even near those numbers the numbers that being released are fictitious and they know it. this guy wants to destroy this country and he is doing a great job
What else would he say? You think he would get up and say, “Yes, Obama has been a failure since day one and he is purposely leading the US deeper and deeper in debt?”
They are minimizing the unemployment numbers because they know this is a key reason why they very might well lose the next election.
