Brooklyn, NY – ‘Mum’s Screams Stopped Butcher Levi Kidnapping ANOTHER Boy’

    28

Brooklyn, NY – A woman who lives three doors down from “the Butcher of Brooklyn” said yesterday that the madman had tried to kidnap her young son right off their block, but that she scared him away with her screams.

“The story is true. We’re going through a lot of trauma here,” Zisa Berkowitz told The Post from her East Second Street home, steps from where Levi Aron admittedly suffocated 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky with a bath towel in Aron’s Kensington attic apartment.

NYPD detectives spoke to the mom on Wednesday, just hours after Aron was arrested for Kletzky’s murder and dismemberment.

A Facebook “friend” told the iPad news publication The Daily that Aron had written on the site that “he likes Brooklyn more than Tennessee because there are more boys here.”

Aron went after another local boy in a failed kidnapping attempt about a week before the Leiby murder, sources told The Daily.

He stalked the 11-year-old in Borough Park with the same Honda he used to abduct Leiby, the sources said.

“[He] was walking home on his block when he noticed a gold car was tailing him,” a source said. “He kept turning around, feeling suspicious, and kept noticing the car was there, so he broke into a run and quickly went home to tell his parents.”

    Leiby wasn’t so lucky.

Sadly, this has already happened in Boro Park several times this year (the attempted kidnappings). The police and shomrim are notified, but there is little that they can do.

You are all so naive. What would the police have done if she did call? Absolutely nothing. There was no crime committed. All it would have done is traumatize her child and wasted her time.

Stop with the 20/20 hindsight. Try calling the police and telling them you feel creeped by a guy because he’s driving slowly and you think he’s following you. Especially when the guy followed you to his own place of residence. They will not do anything. The police are greatly understaffed and treat these things as nuisances because they usually are.
Are you sure the guy wasn’t looking for a spot? Was he checking an address? Did he tell you to get into his car?

The story as told by the post is NOT accurate. The mother did not see it happen and did not know who it was, only after this tragedy happen, did they connect the dots.

As a side note, even if she would’ve called the police, what makes you think that this wouldn’t happen?

I read on one of the news sites that Berkowitz did say she spoke to the police. This happened in the last 2 years. The other one was more recent and did not tell anyone. I hope people have learned their lesson. Don’t think about your little discomfort of being “the topic of conversation” .. see the much bigger picture.

If this woman is telling the truth, which I doubt, she could be charged in reckless endagerment of a minor. Alternatively, she is the first of many seeking to exploit this tragedy for as yet unknown reasons, whether to sell her story to the media or some other reason. I supect this Berkowitz woman will find that whether her behavior is a sign of stupidity or greed, she will be very sorry to have opened this pandora’s box since the anger of the heimeshe community will come down on her.

Every summer the same things occur. I remember vaguely a couple tears ago that a gold car was ‘cruising’ the neighborhood and people were told to watch their children because someone had been abducted but let go later. There are usually these incidents after the main group leaves for the country, and little children are allowed to sit outside alone. It may be that this guy since he knows the routine of BP families has been doing this for years. The police need to check their files for past instances.

Another woman looking for her 15 minutes of fame.

If this really happened, this wouldn’t be the first anyone heard of it.

In fact, she would have spoken up as soon as Aron was arrested.

I just love how commentators on this site are so gifted with their talents:

    — 20/20 eyesight
    — intellect that soars above those of the regular police force
    — abilities to predict the future that far exceed those of any of the Old testament prophets
    — literary skills that – in a fair and anti-Semitic world – would lead to Pulitzer prizes every year.

This is the third time I am trying to post this. NYPD says her statements are unfounded.

I know the Berkowitz family well, and the Post report is completely inaccurate. Shame on all of you who blindly accept the integrity of the NYP reporter, and castigate someone you do not know. As for the true account… it is none of your business. Direct your anger and blame at the monster who committed the crime, not at innocent people.
