The dedication service, scheduled for Monday afternoon, marks completion of a memorial that will sit side by side to previously existing memorials dedicated to Protestant and Catholic chaplains.

The privately funded memorial received backing earlier this year from a joint Congressional resolution.

According to the cemetery, this year marks the 150th anniversary of service by rabbis in the U.S. Armed Forces.

This is long-overdue recognition to the chaplains of ALL faiths including the 14 yidden who have died protecting our freedoms and liberty. Not that its really important but 5 of these 14 chaplains were frum (aka orthodox) rabbonim but the sacrifice of the other 9 was no less significant. May each one of them be a maylitz yosher for Americans of all faiths at this time of national crisis.

Long overdue, indeed, but since the jewish community does not recognize the importance of the Chaplaincy why should others?

This recognition of the Jewish Chaplains is long overdue and appreciated by all.. but even more so by those of us who have served in the US military. The presence Jewish Chaplains has always been a source of comfort for Jewish military personnel far away from home.
