London – Britain Withdrawing All Embassy Staff From Iran; Iranian Officials Expelled From The UK

Iranian protesters break the windows of a British Embassy building, in Tehran, Iran, Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011. Dozens of hard-line Iranian students stormed the British Embassy in Tehran on Tuesday, bringing down the Union Jack flag and throwing documents from windows in scenes reminiscent of the anger against Western powers after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The mob moved into the diplomatic compound two days after Iran's parliament approved a bill that reduces diplomatic relations with Britain following London's support of recently upgraded Western sanctions on Tehran over its disputed nuclear program. William Hague told the House of Commons on Wednesday that Britain had also ordered all Iranian diplomats to leave the U.K.

Mobs hauled down British flags and ransacked offices in Tehran on Tuesday in retaliation for Britain’s support of tighter sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program.

Hague said Britain and allies would consider other measures in response at a European Union meeting Thursday.

He said it was “fanciful” to believe the attacks did not take place with support from Iran’s regime.

I really don’t feel that sorry for our English “allies”. They criticized the involvement of the USA, in Vietnam, but in 1982, Britain sent an entire armada, including the QE2 to the Falkland Islands, which are a miniscule speck of real estate off the coast of Argentina. They also sent a submarine, which sank the SS Belgrano, an Argentinian Naval Ship, resulting in the loss of over 300 Argentine sailors. In addition, dozens of British and Argentinian lives were lost in combat on those islands. Using the same logic which the UK used, would it have made sense for the USA to send an armed force to North Korea, to retrieve the SS Pueblo, an American naval ship, which was impounded by the North Koreans? In addition, the British burnt down the White House in 1812, and never paid a penny in compensation for the damage.
