Washington – Israel’s prime minister likes to draw on history to dramatize the threats the Jewish people have faced throughout the ages.

So the coincidence that he was discussing the Iranian nuclear threat with U.S. leaders on the eve of a holiday celebrating the Jewish people’s rescue from annihilation in ancient Persia was not lost on Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Israeli leader told reporters on Monday that he presented President Barack Obama with the Book of Esther, the story of the Jewish queen of Persia who foiled a plot to destroy the empire’s Jews in the 5th century B.C.
The Jewish people’s salvation is marked on the Jewish holiday of Purim, which begins Tuesday night.
Netanyahu didn’t say why he gave Obama the book.
He didn’t have to.
I thought Purim is Wednesday night
It is astounding – it is the same set of characters as the Purim story – let’s hope that we have a good result – and that this is a time for being saved. Not pashut.
Should read Wednesday night not Tuesday night
what exactly is this post trying to say?
Netanyahu, likes to “dramatize”….?
it sounds a bit like mockery, when he should be getting our total support. If you americans are not taking this threat seriously, someone has to. B’H for our great and courageous prime minister for standing up as a true patriot for the jewish people and our homeland.
Bibi is mesorti and believes in his religion a lot. But halachakli I wonder if its mutar? I know giving a sefer torah to a goy is problematic…what you think?
Everybody, daven hard that the present-day Haman should have a mapala this Purim!! Let’s all join together and do teshuva like the Yidden did back then, and see the same Nes Purim again!! Halevai!
#3,
Muttar.
My take: Netanyahu wants Ahashverosh to read up on history before it repeats itself. Pretty clever.
To quote R’ Shwadron. There is a machlokes if Ahashveirosh was a melech chochom or melech tiposh, but everyone agrees that Carter is a melech tiposh. I wonder what he would have said about President Obama.
