Rockland County, NY – A state appellate panel has found in favor of the Mosdos Chofetz Chaim and its Grandview Avenue religious housing development.
In a ruling issued last Wednesday, the panel determined that Ramapo’s Adult Student Housing zone is legal and that the town agencies acted properly when they approved the 12 buildings with 60 apartments and an education center, according to The Journal News (http://lohud.us/T5x0zG).

As previously reported on VIN, the ruling potentially brings an end to an eight-year long legal battle that cost Ramapo and its villages several million dollars. The villages, including Wesley Hills, Chestnut Ridge, Montebello and Pomona, can still ask the Court of Appeals to hear an appeal. Village attorneys refused to comment on the ruling.
Yet another instance in rockland where overt anti frum sentiment has caused all tax payers millions of dollars.
I can foresee the comments here that will prove this even among those who like to visit this web site.
Thanks to the municipality that spent my tax money fighting this.
While I welcome the additional housing, I do understand one objection about the project. It is a bit closer to the street than maybe it should be. It looks too close. Did it really need to be that close?
This project was underhanded the day the property was purchased.
Wow what a hatzlocha for Torah! It is the largest litvish Kollel in Monsey and I love going in there to learn. Every one living on the site is Kollel yugerliet and the Rabbonim are Moser nefesh to support them.
Send them donations as Im sure they were destroyed by the legal fees involved in fighting this. If it cost the town and villages millions it must have cost the yeshiva as well.
Number 7 has issues with Kollel and the need for Kollel housing. I thinkhe should look at the secular colleges that built housing for grad students that are married. The nreal and they only have Kollel boys living there. Why don’t you get your facts straight?
It is a nice campus and my nephew lives there. He is not subsidized at all he lives there rent free! Plus he gets a stipend. Sorry poster. 7
