The DAILY NEWS (http://nydn.us/X257Pk) is reporting that graduate student, Ari Ziegler, 23, and three fellow classmates were escorted from the event featuring the volatile pro-Palestinian group Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions after they took out pro-Israel handouts.

CUNY Chancellor, Matthew Goldstein, said, “If this were true, it was wrong and we need to understand exactly what the circumstances were.”

Investigators will also be looking into claims from local media that they were banned from the event by the school.

Brooklyn College officials had come under fire in recent weeks over their refusal to revoke their co-sponsorship of the event, despite repeated requests from alumni and pro-Israel groups.

Meanwhile, NY Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) has asked Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to investigate the forcible removal.

“All four students had reserved seating for the event,” said Assemblyman Hikind in a letter to the Attorney General. “The students were sitting quietly as the first speaker addressed the audience; in their laps were leaflets that contained opposing points of view. They were approached by an event organizer who demanded their papers and when they refused to surrender their property, they were manhandled out of the room by campus security.

“This is a civil rights violation. The physical, forcible removal of these four students from this event specifically violates Brooklyn College’s non-discrimination policy, which states that students will not be excluded from participation in the programs of the college because of national or ethnic origin, or religion.”

Although Brooklyn College has said that it will investigate the matter, Assemblyman Hikind believes an independent investigation by the Attorney General’s office is necessary. “We need to ensure that all students’ freedom of speech remains unhampered at Brooklyn College, and not just the free speech of students belonging to select groups.”

If all the Jewish students & faculty transferred to other colleges in protest, this “bastion of educational excellence” would be out of business.

Gavalt!! Liberalism is indoctrinated into these skulls of mush since day one. You expect Brooklyn College or CUNY to be any different? It starts with the parents and continues with the teachers. The amazing thing is that some kids coming out of school nowadays are able to think for themselves and not regurgitate socialist liberal ideas.

Good. If they were there legitimately and didn’t disrupt the proceedings there should be an investigation

Years ago, Brooklyn College used to have the Air Force ROTC, on its campus. I remember seeing the cadets drilling on what was the Brooklyn College , in their blue uniforms. It is my understanding that Brooklyn College ended its association with the ROTC. Incidentally, Alan Dershowitz, is a graduate of Brooklyn College. I never attended Brooklyn College (I went next door to Midwood H.S. In 1978, I attended a concert at Walt Whitman Auditorium starring Schlomo Carlebach.
