The NEW YORK DAILY NEWS (http://nydn.us/17FOU6u) reports that a dedication re-naming the intersection of Avenue J and Nostrand Ave. in Midwood “Yoseph Robinson Avenue” will be permanently affixed in honor of the fallen clerk from MB VIneyards.

In August of 2010, Yoseph Robinson was fatally shot in the chest while attempting to grab the gun of a masked thug who had demanded his girlfriend, Lahavah Wallace, hand over her jewelry.

Lavanah Wallace, who collaborated with Councilman Jumaame Williams (D-Midwood) on the dedication, said she “hopes” the sign will encourage people who didn’t know Yoseph to stop and “ask who he was.”

I find with these name changing of street the original name is the one people use. Still I think it’s a nice gesture.

Reb Yosef( Z’L) spoke at our Young Israel(Long Beach) the last Shabbos of his short life in this world. Our family just moved from Brooklyn and we had frequented his liquor store. However, we really got to know him that last Shabbat – and he was a true Ger Tzedek. May his memory be a Bracha for all of us.

I propose that the “triangle corner” of 18th Ave / Dahill Rd. / 45th St. be named “Leiby’s Triangle” in memory of Leiby Kletzky. Besides being a memorial, this will be a way to help teach our children about the dangers that unfortunately are out there
