Sources told the New York Post (http://bit.ly/15Lr459) that some “several million” dollars in city contracts for Met Council have been frozen.

The freeze comes on the heels of a separate investigation launched by the Department of Investigation to ascertain whether city monies allocated to the social service nonprofit were stolen or used for “fraudulent or corrupt purposes.” A substantial portion of Met Council’s $33 million budget comes from city, state and federal funding. The agency also relies heavily on donors from the private sector.

Those familiar with the Met Council’s operations have said they worry there will be “an extensive backlash” resulting in diminished donations. Some board members have even revealed that they were unaware Rapfogel had been earning over $400 thousand a year in salary and benefits.

Said one Met Council official, “There’s going to be a chilling effect on fundraising. That’s automatic. People will say there’s a criminal investigation. That’s a problem.”

“I knew Willie was making good money,” he added. “But I didn’t anticipate it was that much. This is supposed to be a charitable organization.”

Rapfogel has issued a non-specific apology for his actions, but the mystery still remains as to what motivated Rapfogel to siphon off the funds.

A search is currently underway for Rapfogel’s replacement.

“I knew Willie was making good money,” he added. “But I didn’t anticipate it was that much. ….” I see. So what type of an “official” of the Met Council is he if he doesn’t know how much the CEO makes… Sounds like alot of people there were asleep at the wheel.

I am not sure what it means that there are board mbers who were unaware of his compensation.

It was reported on the 990, which is a public document and a document that is shared with the board of directors before it is filed. (So it says in the 990). It seems that any board member who would make such a comment admits that he was not doing his duty.

. The fact that these allegations were made by ‘the system’ tells me that at least 120% of the story is fabrication. They are already known for ruining lives of innocent people all across our nation.

Whoever believes a prosecutor even one word is a fool!

As a member of a prominent business board, I know that budgets must be reviewed and not just rubber stamted.

Looks like the proverbial bleep is hitting the fan. This is starting to snowball and will clearly have a major negative effect on all the various programs like the food and housing and the various Cojos and Jccs.

There have been many complaints over the years that Met Council, Top Leadership, had closed their eyes to the corrupt leadership, at other community councils, who were funded by the Met Council.

    Now we know why.

When a top official has his own financial corruption to hide, he is then forced to cover-up the corruption of others as well, for fear that if he exposes them, they can expose him

    One Hand washes the other.

The same is true for all of our leadership who try to protect Molesters, it is because of their fear that they know that they, as leaders are corrupt themselves and they fear that the outing of the Molesters, will inevitably also out those who have covered-up for them, for many years, until now.

Indirectly that includes the “Best and the Finest” chusheve leadership that we have, who claim that you should not go to Police (to report Molesters) but to report it only to our “Internal Leadership”. The reason they do so, is because the exposure of the Molesters will also implicate themselves – the leadership who covered it up until now – and the only way to “Hush it Up” is to report it to the only ones, who have the power to continue and Hush It Up, further.

They were doing a lot of services needed by the Jewish community and he was there 23 years so helped most likely build it up. We have no details so before we do give him l’cof zechut. $400k is a lot, but it was a tough job.

Check to see the salaries of Federation leadership and other heads of non-profits with that size budget. Salaries of that level are not unusual.
