This is terrible and shows a pattern of reckless driving by schoolbuses that should put safety first, One hour earlier I got almost ran over while riding my bicycle bike on
Flushing av then on Wallabout st. I took photos. I stopped the bus
called 911 to file a report, but after waiting 10 minutes I left as the
traffic was congesting. is there a way to file a report after the fact?
    > (Friday Oct 25 at 11:45 am reckless driver was passing on the right,
    > honking, speeding in congested streets in the Williamsburg area of
    > Brooklyn (Flushing ave / Wallabout streets), while the bus was full with
    > young passengers.
    > Bus # 9802 NYS plate # 26235BB)

Mr stefix if you don’t like our school children and there buses you have the option move away or respect the buses and stop when they open the flashing lights the bikes driving on the streets almost never obey the traffic signals

I’m a bus driver in BP at least 10 cars or more are passing my red flashing lights every day. every day when I finish my runs I say a kapital tehilim to thank hashem that nothing happened that day I had already more than 30 almost accidents while dropping off the children.
Why are you all blaming the bus driver when it happens an accident where you there to see that he went fast? Where you there to see if the women crossed by the green light at the corner? Where you there to see it happen? So why is always the blame on the bus drivers?????? Why reckless driving. All the Jew hatters are welcome to move away.

    Thanks for understanding.
    A chocking bus driver.

I dont know the facts of the story, but what i do know is that the pedestrians in the frum areas think that they own the roads… They just walk all over and when ever. Should this accident be a wake up call for everyone; for drivers and pedestrians : be careful!

To #8 - I moved out of Brooklyn over forty one years ago. In 2009, I came back for a visit, and drove to Borough Park, to see my old neighborhood. I was shocked to see the mores and customs of the drivers, including religious drivers. There appears to be no adherence to traffic rules or regulations. Cars double park, triple park, back up a block or more, pass and speed up over the solid double line, fail to yield the right of way to pedestrians, do not always make full stops at stop signs, run red lights, etc. It was quite nerve wracking to drive through my beloved neighborhood of Borough Park, where I grew up, and where it was once a mechaya to drive a car. Unfortunately, I found the same kinds of driving habits in Midwood and Flatbush. It is no fun driving a car in Brooklyn. For example, on the BQE, I had a rented car with North Carolina plates. The traffic was not moving, and a &#8 220;gentleman&#8 221; (he appeared to be an Italian-American), started blasting his horn in back, as he felt it would move the traffic faster. I made the error of also honking my horn at him, when he passed. In order to retaliate, that psycho deliberately cut in front of me, and stepped on his brakes!

to #7 Anonymous (it would be better to criticize without fear by not being anonymous):
A] I did not say anything regarding the schoolchildren. They were actually in their early teens and a couple stated that the bus almost hit me. I told him that such careless drivers could easily hit one of the many children of the neighborhood that sometimes run into the street while playing. What a coincidence that about an hour late a woman got struck by another school bus.
B] The bus was not flashing the lights. I was riding on flushing ave and the driver cut me off by passing too fast on the right another car. After I saw him turn left and then right when the bus almost clipped and damaged a car parked close to the corner. I approached the driver in a non aggressive way and I told him he cut me off and was going to fast. It was funny to see that he had this large poster of Jesus next to him while he was surrounded by Hasidic kids. He said he would be more careful. 2 blocks later he passed me too fast when there was a double yellow line and he was too close too fast.

C] These days I drive most of the time. As a non Canadian immigrant I had to go back to driving school even if i had 21 years of driving experience. Anyway the NY DMV manual says that drivers need to change lane when passing bicycles, motorbikes, mopeds. Bicycles have a right to occupy a lane when there is no bike lane present. I pass bikes by giving at least 3 / 4 ft room.

D] if the bus had flashing lights I would have stopped or walked my bike around, but this was not the case

      #8 Joe.
I believe Wallabaut street is too narrow to be a 2 way street and support all that truck and bus traffic. It is a notorious traffic bottleneck. Somehow it would be safer as a one way street, with some speed bump, or maybe make it a no parking / no standing street all the time or at least during rush hour like Ocean avenue. It must be stressful to drive a truck or a bus there, but a school bus driver should show extra caution and play it safe. A school bus driver should be an example to other drivers.

I don’t know what happened there but No I’m not blaming the bus driver until I hear the details.
Not because it’s a bus driver the blame goes to him it’s ridiculous how people always know whom to blame before they even hear the story.

    BDE
There is a word going around that she was texting while trying to cross the street.
They found the phone in her hands.
so she was not paying attention to her surroundings and therefore did not see the bus coming.
The bus driver stopped, but the mirror hit her and she fell to the ground. The impact caused her head trauma.
There is surveillance cameras at the projects which should back up the story.
