65-year old Williamsburg residence Ruchel Greenfield was crossing Division Avenue and Marcy Avenue when the northbound bus hit her at around 12:54 p.m.
According to cops, the United Talmudical Academy bus had no children on board.
The NY Post reports, that parents of children who ride the bus said the bus driver has a clean record and has been driving for the school for decades.
Nebech, BDE. Hashem protect these elderly Yidden crossing the crazy streets.
The bus driver is in his 50’s. has been driving for many years with no accidents ever. The lady came out between parked cars and word has it that she was texting. But it is a tragedy nonetheless. The driver has to live with this on his conscience for the rest of his life. BDE
She was not an “elderly” woman! You guys must all be teenagers. She was coming from Manhattan where she visited and brought food to sick people in hospitals as a volunteer of Bikur Cholim. BDE. She was a wonderful young woman.
BDE
I don’t know the unfortunate circumstances. I did know Rochel Greenfield and I’m heartbroken. She was someone to admire. For the record, she did not text.
Rochel, Rochel, one of the finest, nicest women of Williamsburg! A Queen of woman, so very beloved by all of her friends. Rochel who embodied the true meaning of Isha Tznia both in her royal behavior and mode of dress – Oiy! how she will be missed…… Rochel, Rochel now you can go before the Kisei Hakovod and beg Hashem to send Moshiach now – we need him so….
May you be a Melitza Yeshura for Klal Yisroel.
BDE. Really a tragic story. This women was a great Jewish mother and wife and a wonderful person. This is a real loss. May Hashem give strength to her family and the entire community to deal with this horrific tragic loss we should never hear anything like or similar to this..
Whenever we loss a Jewish brother or sister its tough to deal with, but this story is really special sad because this is a true accident. This driver is a bus driver for a good 35 years with a Clean Driving record. His father u”hs also drove for the same UTA and a well known family in Williamsburg. The driver also gave lots of years as a dedicated member of Hatzalah a real nice guy great husband and father with a big nice wonderful family.
It really is a true tragedy and Nobody is in position to judge anybody, especially without being a live witness. We’re not ready to be judged so let’s not judge others..
I’m not sure how this happened but its so tragic. I can’t get over it. I know her children and I’m saddened for them. BDE
bd”h. its very sad that story, its a real accident! tragady! but 1 point what people will never discuss, how many times did you see people with carriages with small kids inside and when they wanna see if a car is coming they pushing out the carriage till inmiddle the street to check if a car is coming, kids are not a life protection! please when you see someone doing that tell him/her ”nicely” to pull back the carriage and of course not to cross when its green for cars. accidents can always be avoided, ”go where you look, not look where you go…” hashem should keep his right hands on all of us all the time. besiros tovas!
A tragedy indeed , beyond which we could ever comprehend , and especially , especially with me being one that lost a very close relative with her beloved husband alyhem hashulem , while being pregnant h”y so for certain and it is personal indeed ! And so with that spirit and i like to ask :” does payrek retsicha still exist in our days? “????
Do we still study and learn hilches retsicha? – at least the half as we so beautifully adhere to hilches shabbos????
Are we cognizant- are we mindful? – of its intricate details???? Hilches retsicha and do we even begin to know its consequences ???? What is an oorei miklut what is the consequence of transgressing safety rules in time of the bays hamikdush , so if we are today as bevn”h we have no bais hamikdush but the mitsvos and how we are attempting to fulfill her with great fealty and devotion out of love to hashem to our creator as well as the many motsvos which are applicable today as of shabbos koydesh , than how more so the mitsva of ishmartem meoyd lenafshoysyychem?????
No i wasnt there and chas veshulem im not in a position to cast blame on each chas vechulila, yet do we ever learn do we ever enforce the importance the vitality of such
Life depending issues????
What we should remember and that is for certain
And that is
:” to blame hashem chulila is only when we could truly say we did all we could and it happened chas veshulem “! Yea all in the name of ; vus farshtyyen inz “! – this selfish demagoguery how wicked to cast blame on the one who creates and chulila that he dosent cry when tragedy – things which he creates when it nebech perishes -even from this world : pf course he does the riboyne shel oylum gave us the wisdom. To learn from past but do we rise to its occasion ?????
its a terrible tragedy for all of us. I can attest that the bus drivers have a great responsibility picking up and dropping off the Tzon Kudishim. But maybe it’s time for the hard working drivers to slow down with there driving it will avoid lots of accidents.
How many did slow and commit them selves to slow the speed while at least driving in a residential area ? How much are we willing to partner with the creator
To do our part and thus allowing and permitting him to show us his wonders and not with ur actions to impede
