Brooklyn, NY – Two men were arrested on Tuesday for placing an ATM skimming device – a tool used to save debit card numbers and other bank information – on a Chase Bank ATM located on Flatbush Avenue.
As reported by DNAinfo New York (http://dnain.fo/1ouhTjR) employees of the bank located at 290 Flatbush Ave. alerted the NYPD to the situation. Police then sent a surveillance team to watch the ATM.
Laurentiu Baies, 34, and Marcel Boariu, 36 entered the ATM vestibule around 10:10 p.m. that night and removed the reader and cameras on the ATM.
Baies and Boariu were charged with criminal possession of a forgery device, criminal possession of a skimmer device and burglary.
It is not yet known if the men were working alone or if the device had been used on ATMs at that bank before.
