Owner Yosef Shulem Hoenig of Soreiku Vineyards on Broadway near Hooper Street said that the suspect shoplifted wine from his store on three different visits on May 2nd. It was on the suspect’s third visit at approximately 8:30 PM that Hoenig noticed wine missing from his inventory. Checking the store’s security footage, Hoenig saw that the suspect had taken a bottle of expensive champagne on each of his previous visits.
“I saw it was the same guy so I approached him,” Hoenig told VIN News. “We started to struggle and I saw that he had a third bottle that he had taken.”
The suspect punched Hoenig in the face before fleeing the store.
Police describe the suspect as a male Hispanic, approximately 22 to 26 years old, 5’8” to 5’10” tall. The suspect has a beard and was wearing a grey hoodie, black track pants and Nike sneakers at the time of the robbery. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline by phone at 800-577-TIPS, by text at 247637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577 or online at www.NYPDCrimeStoppers.com.
