New York – Guardian Angels founder and popular radio host Curtis Sliwa minced no words on his WABC Drive at Five radio program on Thursday afternoon, taking direct aim at the NYPD’s Jewish liaisons and challenging police to reevaluate its coveted chaplaincy positions.

Sliwa opened his program acknowledging that he was going to “make a lot of people unhappy,” but that as a close ally of the city’s Jewish community he felt an obligation to address a situation in need of correction.
“There is nobody outside of the Orthodox and Chasidic community who is closer to them than this goy, this gentile,” said Sliwa, who observed that over the years he has worked hand in hand with Shomrim and many others within the Jewish community.

Sliwa noted that a recent call from a former NYPD lieutenant who had worked in the Borough Park and Crown Heights precincts left him feeling embarrassed by the behavior of certain individuals.
The caller charged that Chasidim from Bobov, Satmar and Lubavitch run the show at the local police precincts in Borough Park, Williamsburg and Crown Heights.
“It’s not anti-Semitic,” said the caller. “It is a statement of fact.”
Left wondering why he was accepting a status quo that allowed police and elected officials to grant favors to those who wield undue amounts of influence, Sliwa took on a wide range of figures, calling Governor Cuomo a liar for saying he knew nothing of the Lincoln Tunnel closure arranged as a favor to Jeremy Reichberg and pointing the finger of blame at New Jersey Governor Chris Christie as well.
Sliwa slammed police for “acting like they have amnesia” when asked about special arrangements and escorts authorized by local precinct commanders and faulted Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino for appointing Jeremy Reichberg who resides in Brooklyn as chaplain for the Westchester County Police after receiving a $25,000 donation.
Sliwa questioned the credentials of many police chaplains, wondering why the NYPD grants special privileges to those who say they are rabbis without furnishing any proof.
“Every second guy is a rabbi,” insisted Sliwa.
Sliwa called on officials at One Police Plaza to establish a special division that would handle all requests for police escorts and challenged the NYPD to revoke all placards and special IDs issued to police liaisons pending further review.
“If they want to reapply, let them all show up with their proper accreditation,” said Sliwa. “I want to know. Where were you a teacher? Where are you clergy? Where were you ordained, whether you happen to be a pastor, a priest, an imam or a rabbi. Why won’t they do that?”
Curtis has 2 kids with Queens Boro President Melinda Katz, who is Jewish. She is raising their kids as Conservative Jews. Curtis has been a great friend of the Jewish people for decades. He once mentioned he wanted his sons to join the IDF when they are older, However, since he separated from Katz, and she threw him out of the house, and since he has been going to court, over the kids, coasting him a fortune and putting him into debt, he sometimes talks on his radio programs, very negatively about Jews – Orthodox Jews in particular. Hope it’s only temporary.
Let me ask a straight question. What would you rather have in your precinct – 1000 chassidim on 1000 latin Americans or 1000 African Americans?
Which of the 3 groups mentioned above will get arrested more?
Simply stated, Sliwa is 100 % correct
Der goy viest tzu fil
Strange how a phone call from Steve stating “facts” convinces Sliwa. To prove the antisemitism, it is amazing how he throws the 71st Precinct of Crown Heights into the mix. As any Jewish resident of Crown Heights knows, and as history has proven, Jews are definitely NOT given any special treatment. On the contrary, the police go out of their way to show favoritism to those who they are afraid of creating RIOTS. So please Sliwa get your facts straight.
He is 100 percent right. It all starts with the VAS and handicapped plates and from there everyone wants to be a chaplain. This is long overdue. I’m surprised it didn’t blow up when the story of the Rapid Rabbi broke.
If you are not handicapped then don’t use the plates and especially not copies of the tags.

There’s nothing as complete like a broken heart.
And there’s nothing as ugly as a “sheine yid”
#2 , lets see your boys make it a week without showing up in the newspaper and we can have a discussion. The way things are now, nobody wants anything to do with 1000 Chasidim.
reichberg & rechnitz should be well but the charges has nothing to do w askonus, mosdos… it was hak !!
the askonim have never done anything like this the few protextzias are limited to pushing someone up the line in central booking on erev shabbos ( which happens once a month maybe
and if someone helps out the community and parks by a no standing big deal
as far as all the escorts most of the time they are helping the city because there arent enough cops to cover every torah parade,
most levayas DONT have escorts its maybe 1 in 20 because of some reason
and if a few tickets got thrown out big deal
SLIWA FOR MAYOR !
Just take a walk in the streets of Boro Park. It seems that almost every second car has either special plates, a handicapped placard in the window, or a “shomrim”, “chaveirim”, “chesed”, sign allowing them to park ANYWHERE. Then you have the cars with the “lights and sirens”. It is high time to cut back on all of these special privileges. There’s no reason all of these cars can park in front of hydrants, in turning lanes and on the wrong side for alternate side. Some streets can never be cleaned properly.
The amount of damage that has been done with all the scandals lately has damaged our community immensely in my opinion. I do not think we can be trusted anymore. Especially if you are a Chassidish. I am sorry to say that but not sure what else what to say. Please do not reply back on how much good you are doing (which is great, as there is LOTS of good) BUT the bad is really starting to outweigh the good.
I think part of the problem is we have these self appointed askanim who are supposedly representing us. I never heard of this Rechnits and Reichenberg before this story. We need a better system of people who represent us in such matters. They should be vetted etc…
he is 90% right, except about Crown Heights where you have anti-Semitic commanders that allow crime against Jews to occur.
I live in a residential neighborhood in Ramapo. Why do most cars on my block have a shomrim sign? The women don’t drive and the men study all day. It’s a quiet neighborhood with no crime. The cars have special plates. I agree with Curtis.
Just wondering if you’ve noticed the identity of commentator # 4. WOW (if its really him)
goi bleibt goi remember the riots tha chasidim controlled cops did not do a thing to disperse those animals it was Kelly who sent in the cops and cleared the streets in haf a day
