While he is suspected of having coronavirus, the test results have not yet proven so.
The man, in his 30s, has been hospitalized upon his return from Milan, and is currently on a respirator.
The name for Tehilim is Yosef ben Esther.
The news was also tweeted by Mayor deBlasio.

Time to seriously consider mandatory quarantine
If this month is declared to be Adar aleph, it would push purim & pesach off a month. Can the Rabbis promulgate an emergency enactment declaring it so, retroactively? (There are various precendents for dramatic actions and retroactively-effective declarations) . At this critical juncture of attempting to contain the spread of the virus this would push off for a much needed month the crowded events of Purim and the large seders upcoming at Pesach.
Time to limit hand shaking, non-essential public gatherings, and travel. Time for unlimited teshuva and zechusim.
Refuah Shelaima – but this is not time for a quarantine for all just for those infected – but for all it is time for precautions – wash hands regularly with soap, do not shake hands with others, do not touch objects others touch (even for mezuzahs the rabanim have cautioned) .

I’m sorry but he put himself and the community in danger. He knew that the illness was rampant in that area and he went in sorry for those in Flatbush he may have gotten ill. Obviously knowing it’s was there and going he didn’t care

Perhaps it is time to rethink the public gathering issue. In our community, there are countless events that one might question whether they are necessary. Note that I do not question whether they are enjoyable, and many may have other purposes (including fund raising). But we have managed to make staples out of these, and they have impacted sometimes severely on how much time we invest in our relationships, including marriage, parenting time with children, and learning and performing other mitzvos. I postulate that not all of these gatherings is a net gain when all these other issues are factored into the formula. If we accomplish making these major events secondary to our basic responsibilities of house and home, and of Avodas Hashem, we might take out something positive from this virus issue.
Purim is a truly festive Yomtov, and for great reasons. Yet, some of us are appalled by the extremes of gaiety, many of which are highly questionable. The noise in the streets, which should be more than the average day, reaches the point of being immensely annoying. The traffic mess in many neighborhoods is disruptive. The belief that one must give Mishloach Manos to every acquaintance, aside from being false, creates havoc. People who lack the means need to assume debt that rolls over to Pesach expenses. the competitiveness in themes, shtick, and assumption of risk are not positives. For most, far more energy goes into these than into a Yeshivas Mordechai Hatzaddik. The blasphemous concept of being “machmir” to drink to the point of oblivion is a detraction from the true simcha of this huge Yomtov. The use of drugs is somehow accorded Torah legitimacy, which anyone possessing a neshomoh should find offensive.
Yes, we should all consider limits to the gashmiyus we have buried our lives in, and use the hisorerus of Purim to become better Ovdei Hashem.
Yes, some parts of Italy, like my second home Puglia are relatively untouched. The article states that this young man returned from Milano. Milano is considered to be the epicenter. Where and how long are not valid questions after listing Milano.
PS: I cancelled a business trip to Italy one month ago, despite a green light from my Internist.

NO, this is not the time for hugging. Some contact might be valid for discussion or waiting for Governmental advice. Hugging is out. By the way, is hugging for Purim listed anyplace in Jewish Customs?
As a person who suffers a high BP and whose immune system has been compromised, I ask all those who do suffer from HBP Diabetes etc to try to limit your visits to high traffic areas (Buses Subways Stores etc).
If you can stay home please do so only for your own well being.

He may have the “virus” I just got over. Had all the symptoms of covid and yet I tested negative! Doesnt mean he has covid 19/20… Either way Refuah Shleima! And everyone be safe and well!
