JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Police brutality against Chareidim reached new heights Thursday night in Meah Shearim, with a stun grenade thrown near a mother and her 8-year-old daughter. The daughter was injured in her face. A baby in its carriage was also situated next to the mother but it was not hurt.

Police were attempting to enforce public health laws and remove extremists from a local synagogue but at some point after they were attacked with eggs and other items, they decided to throw stun grenades, one of which was thrown at the place where 8-year-old Zisel Margolies was standing. She was injured in the face and taken to Hadassah hospital for treatment, after which she was released with serious burn marks on her face. Miraculously her eyes were not affected.

Health Minister Yaakov Litzman responded to the events, stating that “it is impossible to remain indifferent to the harsh scenes which occurred last night in which a young girl was hurt by a grenade in Meah Shearim. Attacking police is a serious action which is contrary to law and to Halachah and should be roundly condemned. However police ruthlessness, including the use of excessive force and throwing stun grenades in a crowded neighborhood full of small children, must be stopped, as it endangers lives and fosters hatred and loss of public order.

“Police must recognize the character of each community and find the right balance to prevent heated reactions. This was not what happened tonight. Police should speak with communal representatives and with the community itself which is mainly opposed to violence and compliant with regulations.”

Deputy minister Meir Porush said that “no situation warrants the use of stun grenades towards children and endangering of their lives. I call on the police to immediately suspend the policeman and the officer who gave the order to throw a grenade and bring them to trial. Other communities would respond with huge demonstrations. The fact that the Chareidi community is gentle should not allow their blood to be cheapened and their children to be endangered.”

Other public figures also responded angrily to the police brutality, especially in light of the fact that a left-wing demonstration with hundreds of attendees took place in Tel Aviv and police used no violence to scatter the illegal gathering. Jewish Force leader Itamar Ben-Gvir said that “this was criminal negligence on the part of police, violation of all the directives given to police and a terrible result with a young Chareidi girl hurt. The blood of our Chareidi brothers has become worthless and unfortunately everyone is silent. In a democratic country one cannot act one way towards a left-wing demonstration and another way towards a Chareidi prayer group, especially not by throwing a stun grenade in a crowded neighborhood. I demand the immediate firing of the policeman who threw the grenade and that his officers be held accountable.”

Police sources responded by claiming that they had encountered a violent protest including stones, metal objects, eggs and other items thrown at them as well as verbal abuse. The police responded with riot dispersal methods and did not notice the mother and daughter standing nearby. 3 policemen were injured in the riots including one taken to hospital for treatment.

Maran Harav E.M. Shach zt”l used to say that the
biggest עבירה one can do is being an idiot and not
using common sense.

The Chasam Sofer seems to say that the greatest and
biggest מצוה one can do is using their common sense.

The Chasam Sofer writes שו”ת חו”מ ק”צ ” re the מצוה רבה הגדולה
to respect the head of state (king)  is for two reasons.

a) It’s common sense to do so & it’s proper manners.
(מצוה שכליות ונימוסית)

b) We find so in the Torah. Moishe was commanded
to respect פרעה the evil king & אליהו הנביא ran in front
of אחאב who was עובר על כל התורה yet there is a duty to
show respect to the head of state.

*WHOEVER IS DISRESPECTFUL IS AS IF HE
DOESN’T PUT ON TEFILLIN.”

Those shouting at the authorities “Natzim” (Nazis) are
unaware (no common sense)  that by being disrespectful
to the authorities leads the authorities to be disrespectful
to all Frum Yidden.

They are also putting all of the Frum Yidden in סכנה.

Doctors nurses & healthcare workers might think twice
before attending to a Frum patient after watching every day
how the police are needed ( how absurd) in the community to protect the community
from contacting & spreading the virus and yet the abuse
the police receives in return for doing so.

*Perhaps, a head without brains is a קרקפתא דלא מנח תפילין
You can’t put Tefillin on such a head. אמבצי

If it were an Arab kid who was injured, all of the above holier-than-thou types would be screaming about the brutality of the “occupation,” etc. But it’s only a chareidi girl, so instead they use the opportunity to vent their deep “love” of their fellow Jew. Pathetic.

No…if this was an Arab kid, I suspect you would say her mother is ti lame fir bringing her into the presence if a riot against police… I am sad at this news and also think we need to be more sensitive to all police abuse, not just when it sulls over into “unzereh”

The only reason the police has the audacity to violently attack frum yidden is because all of these above commenting supposedly frum Jews.

Instead of standing up for their fellow Chareidim, and raising an outcry. They let their inner jealousy (of frummer than me) and nauseating hatred of Kanueim take control of them . And they still come with mask of frumkeit (dina dmalchisa dina & v’nishmartem meoid) you guys are full of it.

instead of standing in awe & respect for yidden who stand up for Hashem’s honor, you lambast them with intense hatred.

And for whom do you stick up ? , for lowly shkutzim, apikorsim (yeah, I know all about your fake tinik shenishbe arguments) who threw off their obedience to Hashem Yisburech .

All you Law abiding citizens, why doesn’t it bother you when Hashem’s law is trampled ? that’s atleast just as important as the dirty Israeli law.

Now back to this incident, no minor civil unrest such as not listening to police orders to disperse, no matter what, deserves gas grenades, This wasn’t violent stone throwing unruly crowd trying to break into some government building, All it was, was a crowd of people praying in violence of a law, When at the same time In Tel Aviv secular people are in open defiance of the same law with no police intervention.

Ok, back to you guys , now you can continue with your Sinas Am Hu’uretz L’talmid Chuchem Tirade.
Good Bye.

Heshy, I am glad you are Jewish. With your thinking style I suspect that you would be a neo-nazi leader if you were raised as a white christian rather than a frum Jew

Eli,

You are entitled to your opinion, but that doesn’t give it any merit.

Do the haredim throw things at the police in the United States or the United Kingdom?

Heshy

In United States and UK the police doesn’t make up stories to cover up for their obnoxious, violent and aggressive behavior.

And in the US & UK the government doesn’t drag modest Jewish girls into a dirty unmoral army, so Jews don’t have to fight for their spiritual existence.
