WASHINGTON (VINnews) — President Trump claimed on Saturday that states have been unfairly targeting Christians over other faiths, like Islam.

Trump’s complaint stemmed from some states not allowing religious gatherings due to COVID-19 restrictions, but the president isn’t convinced that Muslims will be subjected to the same rules during Ramadan.
“You know I just spoke with leaders and people that love mosques,” said the president on Saturday. “They love mosques! And I’m all in favor of that. But I would say that there could be a difference. And we’ll have to see what will happen. Because I have seen a great disparity in this country. I’ve seen a great disparity.”

The president then when on to explain his skepticism by pointing to the “very strong anti-Israel bent” seen with democrats in congress, which was “unthinkable” just a few years ago.
Trump was responding to a reporter who asked him about his retweeting of a post by conservative author Paul Sperry, who tweeted: “Let’s see if authorities enforce the social-distancing orders for mosques during Ramadan (April 23 – May 23) like they did churches during Easter.”
