WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump says his comments suggesting people can ingest or inject disinfectant to fight COVID-19 was an attempt at sarcasm.

Trump noted Thursday that researchers were looking at the effects of disinfectants on the virus and wondered aloud if they could be injected into people, saying the virus “does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that.”

But speaking to reporters in the Oval Office Friday, Trump insisted his comments were misconstrued. “I was asking the question sarcastically to reporters like you, just to see what would happen,” Trump said.

Trump’s comments on disinfectants at Thursday’s briefing came after William Bryan, who leads the Science and Technology Directorate at the Department of Homeland Security, spoke about how researchers are testing the effect of disinfectants on virus-laden saliva and respiratory fluids on surfaces.

Once again a lie from Trump. Watch the video and you can see that Trump was serious when he asked the idiotic questions. The idiot misunderstood what the medical professionals said because he has the attention span of a fruit fly.

The comments were definitely not sarcasm, as our President turned to Dr. Birx and directly asked her opinion about using the disinfectant internally, in addition to using light sources. At no point did he address the reporters with those questions as he is now claiming; watch the tape, which is readily available. This is not fake news.

Trump was not being sarcastic. Those who in 2016 voted for Trump were being sarcastic.

Yeah, right. He was “sarcastic”.
Too bad he wasn’t sarcastic back in 2015 when he said he was running for president.

Now, because of all of the hullabaloo from Trump’s “Bleachgate disinfectant” remarks, he has essentially (via a recent tweet), going to curtail his daily Covid-19 briefing appearances, as his remarks this time have come back to haunt him.

Trump is gas-lighting us

you should watch the news conference yourself he very clearly suggest it as some very smart thing he came up with that should be seriously looked into. He even got into a fight with a reporter who told him that these ideas are just rumors.

Now that he’s being mocked and made fun of for suggesting such dumb ideas he claims that he was sarcastic. where does sarcastic ideas come into a public health conference where millions of people are are listening to him for guidance in such serious times?!

Trump is now trying to claim that we all did not see what we actually saw
