MK Zohar: Netanyahu Opposed To Establishment Of Palestinian State ‘In All Events’

2

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Coalition leader Miki Zohar revealed Tuesday that during a Likud faction meeting Monday, Prime Minister Netanyahu had announced unequivocally that in all event, the Knesset and the government will not recognize the principle of establishing a Palestinian state. Zohar wrote on his Facebook account that “the Deal Of the Century will not be categorically accepted by the Knesset but will serve as a basis for future negotiations. The present plan does not obligate us to establish a Palestinian state here.”

If Zohar is correct it would represent a major change in Netanyahu’s policies after he declared in a much publicized 2009 speech that he would be willing to accept some form of Palestinian state.

Netanyahu has yet to comment on the matter but Yesha council settlement leaders who were opposed until now to the plans said that they welcomed the change in Netanyahu’s policies.

At present, the plans for declaring sovereignty are on hold after Blue And White refused to accept the present framework and the Americans have made it clear that they want the support of Blue And White in order to initiate the process of declaring sovereignty. However Zohar was adamant that there is still a majority in the Knesset for declaring sovereignty over “all the communities in Judea and Samaria as well as all of the outposts so that there will be no need for any Jew to be evacuated from his home. The application of the State of Israel’s sovereignty in Judea and Samaria will be done in such a manner as to minimize the suffering and to maintain the optimal conditions of the settlers living there. This is a historic plan and a one-time opportunity to apply sovereignty over the entire territory of the Land of Israel,” Zohar concluded.
