JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu sent an unequivocal warning to Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz who has persistently refused to adopt the Trump plan including declaring sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria.

The Yisrael Hayom newspaper reported that there is significant tension between Netanyahu and Gantz due to the American demand that Blue And White also agree to the sovereignty initiative. The coalition agreement between Blue And White and Netanyahu does not stipulate that Blue And White must support the move but the Americans are demanding a unanimous Israeli response due to the general global opposition to the initiative.

Gantz has so far attempted to explain his opposition to the plan as stemming from budgetary reasons but the Likud claim that he is ideologically opposed to the plan. Despite repeated meetings between Netanyahu and Gantz orchestrated by US Ambassador David Friedman, the two have yet to reach an agreement. Netanyahu even suggested a phased sovereignty plan but no agreement was reached on it and the prime minister is now threatening to break up the government over the issue.
