JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Settlers established a new outpost Wednesday night named Maaleh Shai in memory of Rabbi Shai Ochayon Hy’D, who was murdered by an Arab terrorist in Petach Tikva Wednesday. The settlers say that it is not enough of a deterrent to destroy the house of the terrorist and new enterprises must be established in Judea and Samaria so that Arabs will see that Jews respond to terror with more construction and more settlement.

The new settlement is situated in the Binyamin region north of Eli and is part of an attempt by the settlement leadership to prevent Arab takeovers of land in Judea and Samaria prior to a possible peace agreement in the region. Families built 4 structures on the site and started preparing it for a new settlement.

Families on the site said that “Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria occupies a small percentage of Israel’s heartland. There is much more work to do as today it is clear to everyone that Oslo has died. Since the Palestinian Authority is building everywhere and has declared that it is not obligated to any agreement, it should be obvious that the Israeli government and prime minister Netanyahu should allow Jews to settle in every place in the land of Israel.”

However the Israeli government chose to immediately remove the settlement, even as it ignores the illegal Arab construction in areas designated to be part of Israel in a final-status agreement.
