Samarian Companies Sign Historic Export Deal With Dubai Businessmen

DUBAI (VINnews) —  An historic export deal was signed Monday between businessman from Samaria and the UAE, opening the way for mutual business relations between an area of Israel which has been boycotted by the world community and the Arab emirates. The agreement comes despite the fact that Bahrain, which also recently established normal relations with Israel, has announced that it will not import goods made in Judea and Samaria “in accordance with UN resolutions.” The EU requires all items from Judea and Samaria to be labelled as coming from “occupied territories.”

Samaria regional council head Yossi Dagan, who led a delegation of Samaria businessmen who wish to export their goods to the Emirates, pronounced the Shehecheyanu blessing after the agreement was signed, opening a significant market for businesses in Samaria. Dagan’s blessing was translated simultaneously into Arabic.

Dagan and Dr.Faisal Ali Mousa welcome the new trade agreement

Last month Dagan and heads of local manufacturers and companies met with their counterparts in Dubai as part of a strategic move to upgrade and strengthen the regional economy and industry.

That effort paid off as Dagan landed in Dubai together with a delegation of owners of wineries and honey producers from Samaria. By Monday morning they and their UAE counterparts were establishing mutual business ties between their region and that of the Gulf state.

The agreement was signed at the FAM offices in Dubai, between Paradise Honey of Northern Samaria, Tura Winery of Rechelim, and FAM Holding, to export wine, honey, olive oil and tahini to the Emirates. FAM Holding Company, a national group established in 2005, is owned by Dr.Faisal Ali Mousa and is rated among the most recognized groups in UAE.
