Parking Lot At Jerusalem’s Shaarei Tzedek Hospital Collapses, No Injuries Reported

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — A part of the parking lot in Jerusalem’s Shaarei Tzedek hospital collapsed Monday afternoon, causing a gaping hole to be formed in the ground. A number of cars fell into the hole but no injuries were reported in the incident.

The apparent cause of the collapse is a tunnel being excavated under the parking lot as part of the new Route 16 which is set to be a new access route to Southern Jerusalem  bypassing the entrance to the capital. It is possible that the excavating work weakened the foundations of the car park and caused some of it to collapse. Officials however insist that there is no danger to the hospital itself and it can continue to function as normal.

Many people noted the fact that this week the Parsha of Korach is read, where the Torah  describes a hole formed in the ground swallowing Moshe Rabbeinu’s enemies…
