The miser, who reportedly lived in a village in the Sohag governorate in southern Egypt, had worked in a Gulf country for 25 years but always claimed not to have any money, according to local website Cairo 24.

After he died, the family received a registered letter from the bank which was addressed to the deceased man. The family thought that their father had been borrowing money or had guaranteed an unpaid loan. However when the son went to the bank to discover the reason for the letter, a clerk told him that his father had left behind 22 million Egyptian pounds. (about 1.5 million dollars), which in a country with an average annual salary of $8,300  is a huge fortune. Shocked, the son lost consciousness and was transferred to hospital.

I have a distant Nigerian relative who’s royalty and would like me to help him get his millions out of his country. He’s only asking me for a token $1000 to send him so he can pay off the right people.

“lived a life of penury”. Who talks this way? I’m willing to bet that most VIN readers had no idea what “penury” means.
Can you please write “normal”?
