Watch: Army Rabbinate Urges Soldiers To Utilize Time And Study Torah

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Over the last two decades the number of religious soldiers in the IDF has risen steadily, especially in combat units. The number of religious soldiers in combat units is around 50%, with the  crack Maglan reconnaissance unit numbering 70% religious soldiers. In officer training courses there are 30-40% who wear a kippa and 50% of the brigade commanders are religious. For various reasons there is almost no religious representation in the higher echelons of the army, but their presence is felt in all other divisions of the army.

In time for Elul, the army rabbinate issued a short video in which it calls on soldiers to utilize their spare time to….study Torah. The unusual clip features a number of soldiers who find time during their daily schedule to study and calls on all the soldiers to emulate them.

Israel is more secure having wonderful soldiers like this. If only there was a government in power, that reflected these soldiers.
