Watch: Baby Transferred Over Fence In Kabul And Given To American Soldiers

6

NEW YORK (VINnews) — The traumatic pictures emerging from Kabul airport as thousands of people desperately try to escape the Taliban regime included some pictures of women and children trampled by people trying to get into the compound where American soldiers are evacuating foreigners on planes leaving for foreign countries. More viral imagery from the beleaguered capital of Afghanistan showed a baby being lifted over a barbed wire wall and into a U.S. Marine’s arms. The baby has since been reunited with its father, according to the U.S. Marine Corps.

The baby’s family asked U.S. troops to give medical care to their child, so the baby was treated at a hospital before reuniting with its father, Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby said at a Friday press briefing.

“I think this was a very humane act of compassion by the Marines,” Kirby said.

Chaotic scenes from Kabul airport, women and children nearly trampled in stampede

The wife of a former Royal Marine commando who was evacuated out of Afghanistan last night has finally arrived home and revealed the dramatic details of her escape.

Kaisa Markhus, 30, touched down in her native Norway this morning and breathed a huge sigh of relief as she met her mother and father in Oslo.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, she told of the chaotic scenes at Kabul Airport where a distressed mother tried to get her to take a baby with her and of the ‘lonely sadness’ of the rescue transport with only a handful of people on board.

‘There are thousands trying to get into the airport and once through the gates we found a large group of people, both Afghan and Americans, trying to get on board military aircraft.

‘There were crying children, who had become separated from their parents and at least three babies who must have been handed over to soldiers by their desperate mothers,’ said Kaisa.

‘Once on the plane, we waited on the tarmac for hours for people to get through. But eventually we had to take off. I just had a feeling of sadness because the flight was so empty’.

Kaisa described how she had tried originally on Tuesday together with a pregnant American friend to make her way through the sea of people trying to escape from the Taliban but were thwarted by large crowds gathered outside who had been encouraged by the fact that some locals had managed to breach security and force their way onto military aircraft.

To keep the masses back, U.S soldiers fired a volley of warning shots over people’s heads, which sparked panic and confusion. Kaisa and her friend were nearly trampled to death in the ensuing stampede and were left wandering the streets dazed and confused. Later they found safe houses and on their second attempt succeeded in getting through the crowds to the US soldiers who examined their papers while they stood in the crush and finally let them through but not before a mother tried to persuade her to take her baby with her onboard. “It was not a nice experience” she says of her tribulations in escaping the war-torn country.

I wonder where the squad of 4 in Congress prefers to live… Palistine or Kabul..?!

I also wonder when they will come out and condemn the violence

Why would have so many Americans and Europeans been in Afghanistan in the first place ? It was not a warm and cozy place even before this chaos . I don’t get it .
