Delta Airlines Pilot, Son Of Holocaust Survivor And US Immigrant, Describes Flying Afghan Refugees To US

NEW YORK (VINnews) — Delta Airlines Pilot Alexander Kahn described to CNN his special feelings on transporting a group of Afghan refugees from Germany to the US. Kahn is the son of a Holocaust survivor who came from Buchenwald to the US with nothing but the clothes on his back and succeeded in studying to become a doctor. His father even served a as a physician for the US army in Germany, where Kahn himself eventually joined the US military and became a pilot.

Speaking with John Berman on CNN’s New Day program, Kahn said that due to his father’s experience “I was able to put myself in their position…..This [landing in a foreign country] is going to be a frightening experience … But it has the potential to be an excellent experience.”

Kahn added that his crew on learning that they would be evacuating Afghan refugees bought from their own money diapers, wipes, coloring books and balloons for the many young refugees on board.

Emma Lazarus was also a Jewish refugee. Her immortal words are on the STATUE OF LIBERTY. Some of us have forgotten their meaning and hate refugees and exiles. Moshiach will come when we all remember their meaning…
