JERUSALEM (VINnews) — On Tuesday, Charedi MK Moshe Gafni (UTJ) lashed out against Communications Minister Yoaz Handel for his blatant disrespect at a meeting with Gedolim this past Monday.

In a speech to the Plenum, Gafni said, “At least Ben Gurion had enough respect to visit the Chazon Ish at his home”. He added, “Handel sat there boorishly without a kippah and said terrible things.”
In addition, Gafni said, “I’m not sure exactly who supports him as a government minister, yet he spoke with a great deal of chutzpah. These Gedolim have thousands of loyal followers who accept their leadership and authority, yet he spoke with them in such a not nice way.”
At the meeting, Handel referenced the famous story in which the Chazon Ish told Ben Gurion that the frum community is the “full wagon” and the chilonim are the “empty wagon”.
“Handel referred to himself as the full wagon,” said Gafni, “yet he did not even get the story right, he quoted it in the name of the Chafetz Chaim, when it was actually the Chazon Ish!”
Gafni concluded his remarks by saying that not only is Handel not worthy of a Cabinet post, he’s not even fit to be a Knesset Member.
The Monday meeting was a rare confrontation between Handel and Charedi leaders, discussing Handel’s recent attempts to interfere with the kashrus of cell phones. Handel told the Rabbonim: “What we do – no matter how the media depicts us – is not against Judaism and the Charedim, it’s for their benefit.”

It’s not the Chilonim that are the empty wagon; they have no wagon but rather need to be given a wagon to join. It is the evil Zionists and everything about them that are the empty wagon which must yield to the full wagon of Judaism/Torah.
