Rebbetzin Halstuk was born in 1921 in the town of Rava Ruska which is adjacent to Belz. Her father, Simcha Bunim Goldstein HyD, was close to the Belzer Rebbe Rabbi Yisochor Dov ztz’l. Yutta was one of the students of the founder of Beis Yaakov, Sara Schenirer. During the Holocaust she first hid among gentiles and then survived two years in Auschwitz-Birkenau.

After the Holocaust she married Rabbi Efraim Greidinger Ztsl and immigrated to Israel, living in Bnei Brak. She worked for Osem and educated her children to Torah and Yiras Shamayim.

After she was widowed, she married Rabbi Shlomo Halstuk of Stamford Hill in London, a descendant of Rabbi Meir Yehiel Halevi Halstuk, the rabbi of Ostrovtsa and brought up his two children, including the current Admor of Ostrovtsa, Rabbi Yehuda Leib Halstuk of Beitar Illit, who was crowned rebbe in 2018. Rabbi Halstuk has authored a number of books entitled “Shalmei Yehuda.”

During the Holocaust, Rabbi Meir’s son Yehezkel and his eight children were murdered by the Nazis together with their families and there were no descendants continuing the dynasty until the recent crowning of the rebbe.

Rebbetzin Halstuk was buried in Har Hamenuchos and eulogized by her stepson the Admor of Ostrovtsa.

תהא נשמתה צרורה בצרור החיים.
