Adel was the daughter of Harav Shimon Assulin, a posek in Kiryat Gat. Last week, she was strangled by a string on her jacket while at daycare, and she had been hospitalized ever since, fighting for her life. On Erev Shabbos, the name “Chaya” was added.
Paramedic Shlomo Rothschild described the terrifying scene from last Tuesday to B’Chadrei Charedim when she was found unresponsive, saying, “I provided her with first aid [resuscitation] and after her pulse miraculously returned, she was evacuated in critical, stable condition to the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.”
Last week Rav Assulin shared an emotional recording of himself urging Klal Yisrael to daven for his daughter.
“Am Yisrael Kedoshim I beg of you to please daven for my daughter, that HKB”H should save her and give her a good peaceful life, many pleasant years, and a refuah shleima.
I wonder how many deaths could be prevented with a modification of the string around the hoodie (like Venetian blinds don’t have a single looped cord for raising & lowering the blinds, it’s 2 single cords)? Perhaps a breakaway cord (like a cat’s collar), or only have the slidey locking thing like many coats have; instead of the cords that can become deadly when tied together.
