BDE: 6-Year-Old Yosef Naim Died In His Sleep A Month After Coronavirus, Apparently From Flu Complications

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Yosef Naim, a 6-year-old resident of Netivot, passed away in his sleep Monday morning after suffering from an infection for a number of days. However doctors were puzzled why the otherwise healthy young boy would have succumbed to the infection and whether it is connected to the fact that Yosef and his family contracted COVID-19 just a month ago.

Tests taken after Yosef’s death revealed the presence of a severe infection which has been identified as a Type A  flu virus. The tests also revealed that Yosef was suffering from myocarditis, which is a common complication stemming from flu and possibly from COVID-19.  The family opposed an autopsy and therefore the exact reason for Yosef’s death will remain unclear.

Yosef’s four sisters (aged between 2 and 12) all fell sick with similar symptoms to Yosef and have been hospitalized in the meantime but their symptoms were not as severe as those of Yosef. Another possible theory for the condition of the children is that an exterminator had used prohibited sprays when cleaning the house. A few years ago, a Jerusalem family suffered the deaths of 2 children after an exterminator used prohibited substances during pest control activities. 2 other children also suffered serious side effects but survived.

Yosef’s father spoke about his son after his death, stating that he was a “holy soul whom we merited to bring up for six and a half years. Whatever Hashem does is for the good.”

The father added that Yosef loved his Talmud Torah and really wanted to study Torah. “Once I heard him speaking quietly in his room and saying: Ribbono Shel Olam, please make me a Tzadik and a Talmid Chacham.”
