JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The Jewish nation has always craved to return to Zion in order to rebuild the Temple. Three times a day we pray that the Temple be built “speedily in our time” and implore Hashem to “restore the service to your sanctuary.” However the current political climate does not allow Jews even to pray on Temple Mount, let alone to dream of rebuilding the Temple. In recent years Jews have sparred with police over the right to say even the Shema prayer on Temple Mount, despite the fact that Muslims can freely pray on the site with no restrictions.

For some Jews this anomaly is too outrageous to accept, especially in light of the fact that Israel conquered Temple Mount in 1967 and announced that it was in Jewish hands. An organization called “Returning to the Mount” has decided to take an innovative approach and teach Jews how to masquerade as Arabs and ascend the mount in order to pray. Muslims prostrate themselves during prayer but this is no halachic problem as Jews are also allowed to prostrate themselves on Temple Mount. Thus the Jews take a prayer carpet of Muslims, restyle their hair and wear Muslim clothes and beads and even learn to chant the Muslim chants. However when actually prostrating themselves they say the Jewish prayers.
In theory, this behavior could be highly dangerous if the Jews were exposed by Muslim worshipers but since police are present everywhere on Temple Mount it should not present a serious issue. However police and security officials are concerned that such an exposure could lead to a renewed conflagaration at the most sensitive site in Israel. In the meantime the Shin Bet tries to locate the Jews ascending through the Muslim gates and submit restraining orders to prevent them from ascending to the mount.
Israel’s channel 13 took a look at the way these Jews prepare themselves to act and dress like Muslims in order to freely enter Temple Mount:
To all the amoratzim: there are different areas of Har Habais, some of each are mutar to enter. Obviously, if you are a feebleminded amhooretz who refuses to learn the actual dinim, then you shouldn’t ascend because you may end up in a prohibited area. At the same time, you probably shouldn’t scream at those that do know which areas are mutar to enter. Just remember: veein am hooretz chosid. Osuring things just because you didn’t learn the sugya doesn’t make bring you closer to Hashem. Quite the opposite.
