BROOKLYN (VINnews/Sandy Eller) – A visit by City Councilwoman Inna Vernikov to central Hatzalah headquarters in Borough Park took an unexpected turn when the newly elected councilmember stepped in to provide translation services on an emergency call.

Vernikov’s had been meeting with Hatzalah leaders and was touring the facility’s dispatching operations when an emergency call came in from someone who spoke only Russian. As the only Russian speaker on site at the time, Vernikov took the call and was able to describe the situation to dispatchers, telling them that an 87 year old patient was losing consciousness, and providing them with the address where the emergency was taking place.
A statement by Chevra Hatzalah praised Vernikov for her assistance, which saved the time-consuming process of locating a Russian translator and allowed them to provide faster service to the patient.
“We are tremendously grateful for Councilwoman Vernikov’s support of Chevra Hatzalah, and glad she was able to step in and provide assistance during a critical emergency. We look forward to working together to help better serve our community.”
Credit goes to the Midwood community for electing Ms. Vernikov (a Republican) despite the urging of the “askonim” to vote for her opponent.

Thank you. We need more such republicans. Not the DemocRATs who support destroying Israel’s six million Jews with Iran nukes.
True colors of yidden right here!!
I wonder if they had a yeshiva education or did they go through the public school system.
This must be a common occurrence, how does Hatzalah usually handle this in an urgent fashion?
She did get a jewish education. She went to Rabbi London’s NEFESH academy in Flatbush.
What a sheer coincidence for the call to come in just when she’s there with the cameras rolling.
Great performance. Couldn’t have staged it better myself
Why was it ok to vote for a woman ?
