While the BBC has a long history of bias against Jews, Rabbi Rubinstein’s decision comes several weeks after its most recent scandal, in which the news agency falsely claimed that innocent Jewish teens attacked by Muslim thugs who were making Nazi salutes, of making a hateful comment against Islam.

The renowned Jewish lecturer called the posted his resignation on Facebook, saying: “The current crisis over anti-Semitism at the Corporation and its attempts to turn the victims of the recent anti-Semitic attack on Jewish children in London and claim that the victims were actually the perpetrators, was and is inexcusable,” he wrote. “The obfuscation, denial that followed, was and is utterly damning.”

Rabbi Rubinstein was a frequent contributor to multiple BBC programs.

Despite massive backlash from multiple Jewish groups in the UK and elsewhere, the news company has refused to apologize or retract its story.

According to sources quoted by the Jewish Chronicle, the BBC received hundreds of complaints over its egregious reporting. Recently, the Campaign Against Antisemitism held a rally outside the BBC’s headquarters. And Jewish Board of Deputies President Marie van der Zyl is scheduled to meet the company’s Director-General to discuss the report.

Last month, the Simon Weisenthal Center listed the BBC as number three on its top-ten list of global antisemites, just behind the Hamas terror group.

In response to the resignation, a BBC spokesperson was quoted by the British Jewish Chronicle saying, “We are sorry to hear of Rabbi YY Rubinstein’s decision as he has always provided thoughtful and compassionate contributions to our programmes, which have been deeply appreciated by our listeners. Anti-Semitism is abhorrent and we strive to serve the Jewish community, and all communities across the UK, fairly.”

Rabbi Rubinstein is a popular and sought-after speaker in the UK, USA, Canada, France, Belgium, Gibraltar, South Africa and Israel. He is a prolific writer who has been featured in many publications.
