BNEI BRAK (VINnews) — HaGaon HaRav Meir Tzvi Bergman, senior member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Degel HaTorah, spoke harshly against a plan by Avigdor Liberman to make huge and devastating cuts to funding for Charedim.

He met at his home with students from the “Ayelet Hashachar” Cheder to give them chizuk. The Rav said that Liberman’s approach is the same one used by Haman.
He said, “The foundation of Klal Yisrael is the Tinokos shel Bais Raban, and Haman at the time said, ‘First I’ll start with the children.’”
The Rosh Yeshiva continued, “The Erev Rav is rising against us, waging war against the Holy Torah, all that is dear to us.”
He concluded his remarks with words of chizuk and bracha: “We must be strengthened, and we will announce to the whole world that we will not be deterred or shaken. And with Siyata Dishmaya HKB”H will have mercy on Klal YIsrael, the “sitra achra” will be destroyed and we will be zocheh to the coming of Mashiach Tzidkeinu.”
Earlier this week, a plan was unveiled by Finance Minister Avigdor Liberman to increase Charedi workforce participation through subsidy cuts and financial incentives, according to Channel 13.
Liberman’s plan would be devastating to Charedim and Kollel Yungeleit. It would cut daycare subsidies for children of full-time yeshiva students and eliminate property tax discounts for families in which the parents do not work, in addition to other damaging measures.
When the chareidi world protests, all demonized protagonists are compared to Haman-Amalek, Par’oh, or Esav. There’s no serious argument presented, it’s simply another tiring and pointless vort. No one takes it seriously.
They want more State funding. But hate and plot against the State.
