Four people were tragically killed and two others injured by a vicious terrorist wielding a knife on Tuesday in a rampage that began at a gas station and ended at a shopping center. The Bedouin terrorist was shot and killed by two brave armed civilians.
A graphic and disturbing video was shared after the attack, mostly on WhatsApp, showing Laura Yitzhak HY”D bravely fighting off the terrorist, before she was stabbed and fell to the ground.
“Dear people of Israel, the news we received and the disaster that has befallen us are worse than you can understand, they simply shattered us,” her husband Tal wrote on social media.
“I have a small request for you. My three daughters and I do not want to see the video in which she fought like a lioness against that cursed terrorist. I ask everyone to do their small part and delete the videos that were published. I’m moved by and appreciate the support of all the people of Israel. Please help me rebuild from this destruction. Thank you.”
Laura Yitzhak was buried in Beer Sheva Wednesday, with hundreds attending her levaya.
“I fell in love with you at first sight when we served together in the army,” Tal said at the levaya. The attacker, he said, “decided to kill in cold blood for no reason, because she was Jewish.”
“What will I do now?” Tal said. “You are the one who takes care of me, the girls, our home.”
Daughter Efrat eulogized her, saying: “Mom, I can’t take it in that you’re not here. I thank you for how you taught me. I will not forget you, I promise to look after the children. You are a hero.”
Another daughter, Noa, added: “I am writing you a letter with tears. I will not forget this day that you passed on. Never forget me.”
The heroes of the generation we live now are the ones who make a video when someone needs help instead of jumping into help. Being the first one to post it on social media you already deserve a medal. Hopefully one day people will wake up.
