Sheikh Moufaq Tarif, the head of the Druze community, offered condolences to the families of the murdered poliuce and wished speedy recovery to those injured. “A dastardly attack occurred this evening in a city in Israel,” he said. “We cannot let terror rear its head. The security forces must uproot the terrorists and those who stand behind them.”

Falah’s uncle described him as a “smiling person, a singer with an incredible voice. He grew up in a family with educational values and love of his country. We have lost a sweet flower.”

Shirel Avokrat immigrated from France to Netanya in 2006 and joined the Border Police half a year ago. She is survived by parents and a brother.

“She was an excellent student, smiling and beloved by other pupils,” her high school principal said Sunday. “The teacher said she was her right-hand. When pupils didn’t arrive she would call and bring them to class. She matriculated but didn’t take her certificate yet. Her dream was to serve in the Border Police.”

Falah and Avokrat were murdered while on the way to their base after a refresher course in Hadera. The terrorists, who came armed with three pistols, three knives and 1100 rounds of ammunition, murdered the border policemen and took the M-16 from one of them, using it to attack other people who had gotten off a bus on Herbert Samuel street in Hadera.

The terrorists opened fire at soldiers and civilians, wounding another six people. One Border policeman was very severely injured and the others suffered moderate and light wounds. Four more people suffered from panic attacks.

Two Police special forces officers who were in a nearby restaurant engaged the terrorists and eliminated them. One of the special forces policemen was lightly injured and the other moderately injured.

Prime Minister Bennett referred to the murderous attack Monday and said that “Our hearts are broken by the death of Border Police Shirel z’l and Yazen z’l who died defending civilians from evil murderers. We will not forget their heroism. I wish speedy recovery to the wounded and send my deepest condolences to the families. A second attack by ISIS supporters in Israel requires security forces to adapt swiftly to the new threat and this is what we will do. I call on citizens to show awareness. Together we will defeat this enemy.”
