ALBANY (VINnews) — NY State Democrats have cancelled a bill that would have examined the quality of Holocaust education in public schools.

Several days before Holocaust Remembrance Day on April 28, Assembly Democrats have killed the legislation, possibly due to pressure from teachers.

Committee Chair Helene Weinstein said the decision followed communication from the state Education Department.

“There were some issues going on,” Weinstein told The NY Post, keeping things somewhat vague. “It was the Passover holiday, [I] wasn’t able to reach some people that we needed to speak to.”

The education dept. has a history of opposing legislative probes into its own performance, and those concerns prevented the bill from passing the Assembly last year.

State law requires that public schools teach about the Holocaust. The legislation would give the department one year to report about how well students are learning about the Holocaust.

“It is a shame truth that Holocaust survivors still have to fight to ensure that their stories are heard and more importantly that students are taught the lessons of the not-so-distance past,” said Democrat Assemblywoman Nily Rozic from Queens, who is Jewish and one of the bill’s sponsors.

As would they have derailed or delayed a similar piece of legislation concerning blacks or moslems. No they would not have but Jews Asians and Christians don’t count any more. Do keep voting for those that don’t have your safety or best interest
In their agenda

What’s new? There is no level that is low enough that a Democrat won’t sink to. This is just but another example of it. Waiting for the final draft of condemnation from Agudas Yisrael, Orthodox Union, RCA, ADL and the plethora of other organizations.

the best holocaust education is for Jewish people to be a shining example of how to treat each other, both inside our communities and outside, in the media and in our speech.

As a Frum Yid I could care less what they teach in Public schools.

Schools where they teach that gays is the norm IS the epidemy of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Moster and his ilk’s at Yaffed should care about public school education. And we Frum Yidden should care about what we learn in Yeshivas

While I do think that this is disgraceful, I think that we can’t have a double standard. Either you are pro-government regulation of curriculum or against it. Either they can revamp their Holocaust curriculum and we will have to teach CRT and LGBTQIA?!~ curriculums in yeshivos and Bais Yaakovs, or we leave them alone and they leave us alone.
I think that most people here also think that these alternative curriculums should not be taught in public schools either. If this is your belief, you really can’t hold it against them for not regulating Holocaust curriculums in public schools.

IOW, We Jews want to legislate what the public schools should teach Goyim, but G-d forbid we should have the state tell us what to teach our children in Yeshiva. Can you spell (smell) HYPOCRISY?

Learning about the Holocaust does not decrease anti-antisemitism.
If we would teach our children and Bochrum to have the proper and Sincere respect, empathy, and caring, for Non-Yidden, HKB”H will Never-Again instill any hatred into the minds of the Non–Yidden, against us.
