JERUSALEM (VINnews) — An American family toured Israel and found an unexploded shell in the Golan heights which they intended to take home with them. The family came to the check-in center at Ben-Gurion airport with the unexplodedshell and showed it to securities authorities, who announced to the hundreds of travellers present that they should immediately leave the terminal.

Bedlam broke out as hundreds of people ran for their lives. One traveller fell of a luggage escalator and was moderately injured, suffering broken ribs and a punctured lung. The security authorities checked the shell and found that it was inactive but by then people had already taken cover or run out of the terminal.
An initial investigation found that the security official only intended to evacuate her part of the terminal but one traveller heard her and panicked, shouting that “terrorists are shooting” and causing the panicked reactions of other travellers.
The Airport Authority reported that the American family had been allowed to board their flight after the investigation.
The unexploded shell
The traveller who was injured, Uri (32) said that he had pains in his entire body. “I don’t know what happened there, there should be protocols for these types of incidents instead of spreading chaos. I thank G-d that the damage is not too severe.” He added that “there was lots of screaming but I didn’t know what had happened there, I just felt I had to run for my life.”
Uri is studying medicine in Hungary and was on his way to his final tests. “I was at the airport and waited an hour for check-in for an hour until my turn came and suddenly people started running away leaving their luggage. The fear was that someone was shooting, I realized I should run and fell on the luggage escalator and flew off it about 20 feet.”
The idiot dummy that screamed that terrorists are shooting is akin to the one screaming fire in the theater. She should be jailed for that. Unbelievable!!
Who in the right mind would think that they would be getting through security with something like that? I noticed that the article said that they were allowed to board the plane afterwards but I’m quite sure that was WITHOUT the unexploded shell. Duh?!
Dumbest thing I’ve heard. Did he try to
Hide it in his carry on
Whomever this family was, they had no brains, as the shell should never have been touched by them. There have been cases of ordinance in the ground from World War Two, exploding. Those tourists should have notified the authorities in the Golan, and should never have touched that object. A goyish kupp!
If you were at the airport and were told to evacuate, would you pause to get your wheeled bag? Would you take the time to take a video on your phone?
It wasn’t an “unexploded shell” it was an “inactive shell” meaning the charge was no longer inside the shell (either it was a dud or removed). I came to E”Y a few weeks after the 6 Day War and while touring the Ramat Rachel battlefield (Between Yerushalayim and Bais Lechem) I found dozens of inactive and fired mortar shells. Some were phosphorus shells and still smoldering. I brought back to America the one that were totally inactive as souvenirs. there is no problem with these.
