JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov caused outrage Sunday after he stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Jewishness does not negate his Nazism since Adolf Hitler also “had Jewish blood.” Lavrov’s scandalous anti-semitic jibe was condemned by Jewish officials worldwide.

Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid slammed Lavrov’s “unforgivable, scandalous statement” and added “this is a terrible historical error and we expect an apology. Yad Vashem also denounced Russian FM Lavrov for “turning victims into criminals.”

Lapid also summoned the Russian ambassador for a clarification and said that the discussion would include “harsh words” but said that he himself would not be present at the meeting.

Lavrov was interviewed by Italian television Sunday and referred to his country’s claims of “Neo-Nazi” elements in Ukraine, stating that Zelensky’s Jewishness does not negate Nazism, since Hitler “also had Jewish blood.” Later in the speech he added that “The worst anti-Semites are the Jews.”

Moreover Lavrov also claimed that Russia had “only hit military structures” despite significant documented evidence to the contrary. Regarding the massacre in Bucha Lavro claimed that this was a “sensational forgery” and added that “I want Ukraine to be a friendly country and not a Nazi country.”

Among the responses to Lavrov, one said that Zelensky’s relationship to Hitler needed “to be understood in context”: “A Jewish Ukrainian family had 4 brothers, 3 were murdered by the Nazis, 1 survived. His grandson is Zelensky.”

Nothing Russia says could still be outrageous.

They’re killing tens of thousands of people, how can still a statement be outrages.

Would you be outraged by a murderer lying?

Coming from a country that was part of the axis of evil until they realized Germany was going to lose. A country that killed hundreds of thousands if it’s own people
That’s a ridiculous statement
Just remember under Stalin and communism how many Jews died, torched or refused their basic rights And they’re calling the kettle black

Hitler had no known Jewish ancestry. The myth comes from the fact that some of his ancestry is unknown (in the dishonorable sense).

I have always been curious: why do Jews people so easily accept outrages about “Jewish ancestry” of various historical figures, good, evil, or neutral, without a shred of evidence? Hitler, Lenin, Columbus, Khaddafi, Elvis, and so many others, are rumored, and believed! by many gullible uneducated Jews, to be “Jewish” or of “Jewish ancestry.”

Many scholars have demonstrated that Hitler likely had Jewish ancestry. Most frum Jews grow up hearing stories of non-observant Jew who were virulent Jew haters, worse than the non-Jews. Why the big fuss over Russia saying a few truths.
