The demolition was delayed until after the visit of US president Joe Biden, due to concern of an escalation in terror attacks in the wake of the demolition. The demolition was set to go forward after it was recently authorized by the Supreme Court but will now be delayed until after the July 13 visit.

The decision to delay the demolition was taken by Prime Minister Bennett and the IDF, which had already prepared the operation, cancelled it in accordance with the political imperative.

The attack on Dizengoff street took place on the 6th of Nisan (April 5th) as thousands were present at the central Tel Aviv trendy location. The terrorist shot and murdered three people and injured six more, three of them seriously.

After a search which lasted until morning, the terrorist was located near a Jaffa mosque. Special forces were brought to the site and located the terrorist near the famous Clock square. After he was told to surrender he raised his hands but afterwards fled, hid behind a car and opened fire on the commandos, who eliminated him. No injuries were reported to IDF forces.

Does the Torah (or civil law) permit the wanton destruction of housing in Israel? In fact, this is a British military decree, which is against the Halachic principle of destroying something that is beneficial to mankind (and Rabbi Israel of Salant z”l held that even an Arab house is good for yishuv Eretz Yisroel.)
