FACT CHECK: Ilhan Omar Blasts Biden for “Torturing” Terrorists

WASHINGTON (Yaakov M / VINnews) — This week, Ilhan Omar put out a tweet, blasting the US government’s treatment of Guantanamo Bay detainees.

Posting newly released photos from the facility, Omar wrote: “There are no circumstances where this should be ok. Illegally imprisoned people, who haven’t been charged with a crime are still being tortured at Gitmo for decades. Closing down Gitmo is a start and not justice for the crimes against humanity that have been committed at Gitmo.”

As usual, Omar is lying. Plus she is defending evil monsters, some of whom brought down the Twin Towers on 9/11. (Or as Omar would say, “Some people who did something”.)

“Illegally imprisoned people.” False. The current list of 39 prisoners have either been charged with war crimes and awaiting trial, or are “enemy combatants”. They include KSM (the mastermind behind 9/11), multiple members of Al Qaeda and Al Shabab, and Osama Bin Laden’s personal bodyguards.

They have no constitutional rights, nor are they entitled to due process, and it is 100% legal, according to the courts, to detain them indefinitely. (Even the NY Times agrees.)

“Still being tortured for decades”. False. They are treated humanely, and President Biden even considered giving them first dibs at Covid vaccines, which was abandoned after intense backlash. They are treated quite well, especially for terrorist murderous thugs. (Although they are treated worse under Biden than Trump.)

President Obama pledged to close the facility as soon as he took office, one of many broken campaign promises. Why did he never follow through?

Because it’s easy for an ignorant candidate to make silly pledges. Once he became president and was briefed on the detainees’ crimes against humanity, he realized it was necessary to keep Gitmo intact.

Of the hundreds of detainees who have been held there, only 39 remain. These are the most heinous and evil men on the planet. President Bush released about 540 , and Obama released 200 (many of whom returned to terrorism). Biden has released just one. (In fact, Biden has expanded the facility, to the dismay of Democrats.)

Most of the current prisoners are so evil, Obama could not find a country who was willing to accept them.

Yet Ilhan Omar, who has not condemned terror attacks against Jews, nor the would-be assassin of Brett Kavanaugh, expresses sympathy and outrage over the treatment of these subhuman pigs.

Astonishingly, Omar the antisemitic terrorist sympathizer, sits on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Marjorie Taylor Greene was stripped of her House Committee Assignments, as was Steve King, both for statements way more innocuous than the vicious Omar.

But then again, Omar is a Democrat.
