NEW YORK (VINnews) – A man who allegedly attacked Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., with a sharp object at a campaign stop in Perinton, New York, Thursday evening was charged with a felony and released from custody within hours of his arrest, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department said.

The suspect, identified as David G. Jakubonis, 43 of Fairport, N.Y., was charged with attempted assault in the second degree.

After releasing the attacker from custody hours after his arrest, the Judge explained his light sentencing to reporters:
“This guy reportedly attacked Mr. Zeldin with a weapon shaped like a cat’s face with two blades attached to it!” the judge exclaimed. “He was also drunk. Do you expect the prison guards to deal with that kind of threat?! What about his fellow inmates?! And what if he comes after me for sending him to prison?!”
“I’m sorry,” the Judge said, “prison is not an option. Let’s buy him a cat’s face without the blades, or maybe a teddy bear, and let him go home and get some rest.”
“Besides,” the Judge added, “I’m a registered Democrat.”

the attempted attacker deserved to be set free. he didn’t actually injure anyone. it’s not like he was doing something terrible like those jews who want their kids to learn Bible instead of lgbt.
