During Shechem Firefight, IDF Eliminates Four Terrorists, Six More Injured

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — A combined force of IDF, GSS and Border Police performed arrest operations Saturday night in a number of places in Judea and Samariia, including Shechem, Kabatia near Jenin and a number of other villages.

Members of the elite police unit Yamam entered Shechem together with intelligence operatives who led them to the house of a number of wanted terrorists which they encircled. During the course of the operation a firefight broke out between terrorists and IDF soldiers, who also fired rockets at the building according to Palestinian sources. Four terrorists were eliminated and six others injured, one critically. There were no injuries for the IDF. In one of the apartments in the building soldiers found weaponry including rifles and pistols.

During the course of the operation violence broke out at the scene including stonethrowing, petrol bombs and gunfire from armed terrorists nearby. The IDF forces responded with fire and other means of mob dispersal.

The operation in Shechem comes five months after Yamam forces gunned down three terrorists in Shechem. In recent weeks there were four shooting attacks in the region and the IDF related them to a fourth member of the terror cell, Ibrahim Al-Nablasi, who was not eliminated in the previous operation. Military sources reported that the house encircled belonged to Al-Nabalsi but it is not yet known if he was eliminated in the operation.

Public Security Minister Omer Bar-Lev said that “the fight against terrorists continues daily. In this case the suspects were known, opposed their arrest with gunfire and after a battle with the IDF they were killed. Thankfully, IDF forces returned without injuries.”

On Friday, IDF forces and local security officers noticed a car stuck on the side of a road in Samaria. When they arrived there, they found two explosive devices in the baggage compartment which the Arab terrorists had intended to place at the side of a road. The terrorists were apprehended and transferred for interrogation.
