JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Jonathan Pollard announced recently that he did not intend to enter the political arena in Israel but has still called on people to vote for Ayelet Shaked’s Zionist Spirit party.

Pollard, who spent 30 years in American jail after spying for Israel, explained his decision to support Shaked despite her participating in the Bennett government which turned its back on the right-wing and joined forces with Islamist Mansour Abbas.

“As everyone knows, I am not a member of any political party and have never formally recommended a party or personage. I am independent and my loyalty and concern is for Israel and the Jewish people.

“Due to my unquantified love of [Israel] and dedication to its survival and well-being, I call to vote for a person who will serve the state of Israel in a way that will safeguard both our core interests and our honor.”

His endorsement did however come with criticism for Shaked’s involvement in the previous government.

“Yes, she exhibited misplaced loyalty in our last government, but I truly believe that she realizes the mistakes she made and will not repeat them,” he said. “We need her now, free and clear of the bad influences that hurt both her personal reputation and her political credibility.

“We all make errors in judgment. There are differences between those of us who refuse to acknowledge such errors and those of us who recognize their errors and commit never to repeat them. I believe Ayelet Shaked is just such a person and deserves to be given an opportunity to continue being part of Israel’s leadership.”

Zionist Spirit tweeted the video, captioning it, “also Israel’s hero Jonathan Pollard has a Zionist spirit!”

Pollard recently refused an invitation to join Itamar Ben-Gvir’s Jewish Force list, stating that he did not intend to enter political life as “I think I’ve suffered enough.”

There are mistakes and there are mistakes. Hers revealed her greediness (and Bennetts). Blinded by ambition, stupid enough to think that Bennetts year at the helm would catapult their party into double digits, and fueled by vengeance, one would be a fool to vote for her. Especially seeing how her party is far from clearing the threshold. Waste of a vote. There are better parties to vote for.
Thank you Pollard for pointing out exactly why one should not vote Ruach Zioni – ridiculous name BTW, Shaked is fighting for the rights of the Bet letter on the voting slips. The letter represents MaFDaL Since she is secular/chilonia herself, she doesnt deserve the letter.
