BROOKLYN (VINnews) — Police have arrested the Access-A-Ride driver who brutally attacked an elderly woman last week. Not surprisingly, a judge has already released the monster on bail, according to the Flatbush Scoop.

The driver allegedly dragged a 78-year-old woman out of his car and attempted to rob her. He also ran over a second individual who was trying to help the victim. The attacker reportedly stole the woman’s money and phone.
The horrific attack was caught on video last Wednesday in Brooklyn .
Elsakran Mohamed, 46, was arrested last weekend and charged with attempted robbery, vehicular assault, attempted assault, reckless endangerment, grand larceny, menacing and harassment.
Mohamed was caught on video grabbing Catherine Shine from his car by her leg and tossing her on the street as she tried to fend him off with her cane.
He then drove into Ezra Halawani, a 35-year-old man who filmed the disturbing incident and came to assist.
“Are you OK?,” Halawani asked after he was hit by Mohamed as he tried to stop him from fleeing, according to the footage.
“No, I’m not!” Shine said as she sat in the street with her sandals knocked off.
“I’m a 78-year-old lady and he threw me out of the cab, he took my money, he took my phone!”
The NYS Federation of Taxi Drivers had identified Mohamed as the driver and called for his Taxi and Limousine Commission driving privileges to be suspended or revoked.
According to the NY Post, Mohamed’s license has been suspended.

As long as he didn’t sneeze in the direction of the Capitol on Jan. 6, then he doesn’t deserve a day in jail.

I dont care if he was released on bail or not. I want to see him convicted and behind bars…. that’s what’s most important.

While he definitely needs to charged, convicted, sentenced, and serve time for this cowardly crime, he still rightfully can or should be released on bail. The objective of bail is simply requiring a suspect to put up money to make sure that he shows up to trial. This person hasn’t had a trial yet, wasn’t yet convicted. Being held in jail till then as a punishment is not, and has never been the law or the objective. Nor should it be. First comes the trial, then the sentence. Innocent until trial is the bedrock of our Malchus shel Chesed. Of course someone who is an immediate and “ongoing” threat to the public needs to be kept off the streets. But that doesn’t seem to be the case here, as this appears to be a unique one time lunacy. So, of course he deserves to be punished and even locked up. But only AFTER he’s convicted and sentenced.
Halawani. Hmmm. Isn’t that the same name as that guy that pretended to be Jewish to marry that girl, only to find out that he was really a Muslim from Lebanon? (Or was he really Jewish the whole time). The story changed a few times.
It’s people who get arrested that get out on bail. Perhaps you expect only people who were NOT arrested get out on bail?
