OP-ED: If You Don’t Support Zeldin, Quit Complaining About the Jew-Hating

43
U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin speaks to delegates and assembled party officials at the 2022 NYGOP Convention, Tuesday, March 1, 2022, in Garden City, N.Y. Republicans from across New York met Tuesday to choose their gubernatorial nominee to run against Gov. Kathy Hochul in November. If you are crazy enough to support Kathy Hochul, or you’re even on the fence about which candidate to support in the governor’s race, you have no right to complain about the assault against yeshivas in New York state.

By supporting leftist politicians who are out to harm the Jewish community, YOU are part of the problem .

If you are not fully invested in Lee Zeldin, or if you align with the Democrat party, you have no right to complain about the rash of brutal antisemitic hate crimes.

It’s time for Jews to wake up and realize that Democrats in New York do not represent our values. They have dangerous policies, they have destroyed what used to be a state that was relatively safe, and friendly to Jews.

Democrats are not friends of the Jewish community.

No matter how much money they pump into our institutions in a pitiful effort to buy our support. They have thrown us under the bus again and again. Many Democrat politicians probably despise the Charedi community. But even if they don’t hate us, it is very clear that their policies are diametrically opposed to our best interest.

Governor Hochul’s policies have been disastrous for every New Yorker who is not a criminal or illegal alien.

Despite the urging of many Democrats, including Mayor Adams, she has refused to reform no-cash-bail. She refuses to fire woke DA Alvin Bragg. And she has not defended yeshivas from the invasive equivalency restrictions passed by the state Board of Regents.

On the contrary, her deafening silence has been a de facto endorsement of the restrictions, which could be devastating.

Because of Hochul, New York has become the wild west (except in the wild west, the good guys also carried guns). Criminals commit vicious, violent shootings and stabbings in broad daylight. They carry out carjackings, muggings, and beatings. Even if they get arrested and released the very same day.

Even the man who jumped on stage and attacked Lee Zeldin with a blade, was released the next day.

Yet despite this insanity, if you are not a staunch supporter of Zeldin, you have no right to complain.

After the NY Times published a disgraceful, biased, hate-filled hit piece attacking Chassidim, Zeldin came out in defense of our community. He bravely spoke out in support of yeshivas and Charedim and against the draconian equivalency guidelines.

Governor Hochul was silent. She dodged every question about the guidelines. She has enormous influence over the Board of Regents. Yet rather than use her unique position to defend our community, she has thrown us under the bus.

Ironically, she was more than willing to accept the endorsement (and donations) of Chassidic Rabbanim and leaders, yet when they need her most, she is MIA.

Amazingly, after the Times published its vicious story, the response from Jews was strong and vocal. And no doubt that was a great thing.

However any Jew who supports Hochul and the Democrats, or who has no strong candidate at all, has no right to be outraged.

You’ve brought this upon yourself.

The choice for governor is a no-brainer. Unless you want New York to be overrun by drug dealers and murderers, Zeldin is the clear choice.

Imagine if every Jew in New York voted for Zeldin? Would it guarantee a victory? Probably not. But it would give Zeldin a huge advantage.

Often in non-presidential election years, the winner can be determined by less than 100K votes.

Nobody expected George Pataki to beat Mario Cuomo. But upsets happen. Hochul is not popular, and she was never elected governor in the first place. In addition, many New Yorkers, including Democrats, are quietly frustrated at the direction the state is heading.

This could be the year. If Jews wake up and realize which candidate represents their interests, and which one has been an enemy of our community.

There are some elections that one can at least make the argument “s/he is going to win anyway we may as well be on his/her good side.” This isn’t one of them. No matter how much support the frum community will give Hochul she won’t do anything in return anyway. She already has the track record to prove it.

Plus it isn’t so clear that Hochul is going to win. For the past few elections the polls have consistently heavily underestimated the support the Republican candidates actually have.  No one dreamed that Pataki would win either. Some people ended up losing out big time for supporting Cuomo over him because they thought Cuomo would win anyway. When Pataki won he did not consider those people his natural allies he otherwise would have considered them

It’s not just about who you support. It’s also about actually regesterig to vote, voting, and even influencing whoever else you can influence to vote. Whoever doesn’t vote has the blood of the many victims of NY crime on their hands.

Frum voter turnout has been pathetic in recent years . If you care you must vote!

Lee Zeldin is a clear choice for us. Stop looking at what community leaders need to do in an environment where they will suffer greatly if they back the loser. You have free will and your voice matters!

Those that don’t vote always blame the askanim but their own lack of participation in elections has consequences. The comments here are the same type of talk I hear everywhere but when it matters frum Jews stay home.

This has to change!!!

Hochul doesn’t like us. That’s a fact.
Didn’t say a word to support the Yeshivos and our education system
Today she campaigned with a outspoken antisemite
There is no choice for us Frum Yidden
Only Zeldin (regardless of what the Agudah and both Satmars may say – they have to do what’s in their interest and we have to do what’s in ours)

brave lee zeldin stood up to the haters of nyt, and the liars of yaffed. where was hochul? zeldin always says his mom taught in a yeshiva so he knows how amazing they are and he is not taken in by hate filled liars of yaffed. the hate filled liars were furious at him and of course they resorted to what they always do-anti semitic tropes that zeldin is pandering to those powerful chasids (who somehow ae all powerful despite being uneducated and smelly – the old antisemitism double take) but lee didn’t care and stood up to the yaffed lying bullies –VOTE LEE ZELDIN support yeshivos, Torah, keeping streets safe!

I’m from those who believed for a while that this election will be far closer than the polls indicated already a few months ago, after what happened with the close Murphy election, and he is certainly a better governor than Hochul by quite a bit, as most people despite the two party system tend to hang out towards the middle of the political spectrum and hochul decided to hang out with the farther left she is taking the risk that many moderate democrats will switch sides or at least stay home, vekal vachomer the independents, not backing up the Jewish community may just be the thing that can sink her ship and I sure hope it does… what those who endorsed hochul were thinking is beyond me, but hey maybe I live in a bubble

As long as the Dems keep throwing the Rebbes & other leaders their Sheqels nothing will change.
Every stereotype has a kernel of truth & when it comes to Yidden it really is all about the money.

Does zeldin have a real chance? Winning is not the only consideration but it needs to be taken in to the equation,, maybe this time we need to stand on principle?

All the recent polls shows Hochul with a less than 10 percent advantage over Zeldin, so if the Jewish community backs him the chances of Him winning is very high, and one thing is fo sure no matter how much we backed Huchul, she never even just verbally back us in return, specially by the attacks on yeshivas her silence shows everything we know about her, there’s absolutely no reason to vote for her even if you think she will win, because she won’t help us anyway as her past has proven

He supports perpetuating the poverty in our community by lack of education and she supports welfare for our uneducated poverty stricken community (al harov hatorah medaber, MN 3, 33)… so I’m a little confused here…

I agree. Once Zeldin is elected, there be no more anti-Semitism not only in New York, but in the entire world. That is because Zeldin is the Governor. Briliant!

There are two reasons why to support Hochul.
1) so that the rasha governor antichos coumo doesn’t say I told you so. He needs to see that the dems in NY can survive without him.
2) Zeldin unfortunately doesn’t stand much of
A chance no matter what Ny is too far gone. Now perhaps at least vote for the winner so we get something in return.

That being said I still plan on voting for Zeldin but these are my reservations.
